Wouldn't you just love to drive your car the way Randy Pobst drives these?
No... we shouldn't try this on the streets, I'm not saying that. Just got to find a way to get to a track. I know SCCA does a lot of parking lot races, but I can't imagine doing this kind of driving through a few cones. I'll have to check one of those out & see what's what. |

Autocross is a good introduction. Speeds aren't nearly as high (not at SCCA's events anyway), and you won't be as fast as the fast guys there anyway. But you should start to pick up such concepts as driving "the line", not overdriving . . . and discovering how the car starts to feel as you drive it harder.

I have found the limits of brakes and tires. Still get faster and faster at my "home" tracks. Limits of some parts have been found. Most importantly the limits of the driver are well established

Lets put it this way, i've done one HPDE at VIR North, and my co-worker with a PTE Miata turns faster laps than me, haha.
