Agreed whole-heartedly. With today's tire tech, there are no vehicles you can push even close to the limit. Line-of-sight is your limit 99% of the time.

Wouldn't you just love to drive your car the way Randy Pobst drives these?

No... we shouldn't try this on the streets, I'm not saying that. Just got to find a way to get to a track. I know SCCA does a lot of parking lot races, but I can't imagine doing this kind of driving through a few cones. I'll have to check one of those out & see what's what.

Autocross is a good introduction. Speeds aren't nearly as high (not at SCCA's events anyway), and you won't be as fast as the fast guys there anyway. But you should start to pick up such concepts as driving "the line", not overdriving . . . and discovering how the car starts to feel as you drive it harder.

I have found the limits of brakes and tires. Still get faster and faster at my "home" tracks. Limits of some parts have been found. Most importantly the limits of the driver are well established

First time 1:58XX
End of first day 1:55xx (TEMPS MID 50'S)

Second time 1:55-1:56 (TEMPS MID 50'S)

6th time 1:52-1:54 (TEMPS MID 50'S)

20th time 1:48 Consistent (temps 60's) (out of brakes)

25th time Brake limited at 1:46 consistent (race brakes overheating all day) (temps mid 60's)

30 time zl1 brake upgrade 1:47 consistent (Stock ZL1 pads slower than 4 piston race setup)

Now 1:42-1:43 (zl1 race bakes and fully ducted)( Lap times are limited by the tires at 70 degree temps)

So there is my 2 cents....I am at the limits, as I am out of tire grip (eagle F1G2's) and it take a LOT of wheel/track time to be comfortable where I am. I have taken dozens of camaro owners for ride alongs, first thing they all say is that I am psycho then they get back in there own cars and are comfortable pushing much harder. Find some that knows the car and go for a ride........
That is screaming on Goodyear G2s Eddy. I'll see you Friday at the track.
