Give them time to breakin. I think mine changed after 1000 miles or so. Sounded like the sound then came from out back and not from the back seat.I had cai, shorty headers and that also made the car louder and more freeway drone but the Magnaflow X pipe tamed things down. With it and all the rest I had made the MRTV2 no more droney(is that a word?) then the Magnaflow mufflers I had on before, at freeway speeds. The sound was there but I call it a low performance almost growl sound. I liked it and didnt bother me.

22 sq ft of Hushmat in the trunk area. Works very well.

Here is the MRT 2.0 culprit...

This is at around 2150 RPM at 75 MPH on the highway tonight. 28 inch helmholz pipes will solve the 120HZ 83DB drone. I already got my pipes...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/390364088873...S:1123&vxp=mtr

I ordered three of these. I will be installing these sometime next week. Stay tuned....

I'm glad youve got the formula down. I'll be anxiously waiting to see your outcome. I've saved that eBay auction, if all goes well, this is the next step I'll be taking after I finish with what sound dampening material I have left. After paying hundreds for the exhaust itself, I really don't want to buy an x-pipe right now. This will take care of it at low speed as well, right? I think it's the same rpm range but accelerating from a stop.

Do you have a spare tire in the lower trunk - battery area? When my spare is in the car the drone wasn't that bad. When I take it out I get more drone. Don't no if this helps at all.

Yes, I do. Without the weight of the tire, that bare metal under there could vibrate and cause a droning echo.....at least I assume it would.

I will be very interested to see where exactly you run your pipes and how they work out for you. I know when installed correctly and at the right length they can work wonders.

This is the response I got from another member who tried it:

"honestly I think it made the drone in the low rpms even more noticiable. The resenator delete gave the exhaust a meaner louder more aggressive sound but it does come at a price. Hope this helps!"

Well, yea, that was just in response to some members suggestions on doing a resonator delete.

I'm having the same problem with my SS. I just installed a full kooks exhaust system and it drones. I hope the trunk sound deadening works. Im going to go that route if it works for you.
