GT350R 'Ring Time Faster Than Z/28.

http://www.evo.co.uk/ford/mustang/15...s-ring-laptime

7 min, 32.9 seconds.

The gauntlet has been set for the 6th gen Z/28.

Discuss.

This is encouraging! Chevy is not about to let this stand for long. Since when has Ford even started using Nurburgring times? The Z/28 will be back and better than ever. Mark my words.

Another thing, the Z/28's time was a partially wet track. There are visible periods of lost traction. We have yet to see a video of the 350R run but I presume the times are closer than they appear since the 350R's could be a dry lap.

It's a challenge that the 6th gen may not be equipped to handle if the 6th gen "Z/28" is LT4 powered.

Lol. I don't think that "heat soak" will be an issue.

Would love to see the evidence not released quoted by the article in the OP. Didn't know the gt350r didn't even have rear seats. Wonder what rubber the time was done on.

Not just heat soak.

Z/28 vs ZL1 and Z06/Z07 vs ZR1 on the Ring. Check the times if you don't believe me.

I'm glad. Chevy will really have to step up their game now

My preference would be to not use the LT4 and have GM develop a hotter, normally aspirated version of the LT1 for the Z/28. Like the LS1----->LS6.

Love the "thrashes" title, I didn't know shaving 5 secs off a lap of The Ring was a thrashing. More like better track conditions. One thing for sure, the GT350R is serious.

You also can't relate to the Z/28 to ZL1, Z06/7 to ZR1. They are cars built for different purposes. ZL1 competes with the GT500. Z/28 had no competition until the GT350R.

Source is Horsepower Kings, which I've been lead to believe is a bunch of BS...so take with grain of salt.

NO video evidence?

I really don't see the Z/28 and ZL1 combining. It just doesn't make sense, the cars and nameplates were meant for different purposes. They even said when the Z/28 was coming out, they went through name changes with the ZL1 and 28 because of the demeanor of the car.

I DO NOT see the Z/28 being anything else but NA. The track purists that buy/drive these things will want it. Why is the LS7 out of the question? Probably one of the best platforms for big, linear, and reliable power. With the current Z/28 NO ONE is complaining about power. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The things that should be addressed are weight, weight, and weight. The car is the 2014 MT best drivers car for Pete's sake. Beating the Nissan GT-R Nismo and Porsche 911 Turbo S!!!! If this 350R time is real then reduce the weight and lick your lips.

The same could have been said about the ZR1 and Z06 yet we have a Z06 with a supercharged small block.

The LS7 is dead in the Camaro after the 2015 model year. The entire LS series is dead.

The issue is GM has no engine like the LS7. They tried a 7.0 liter LTx and it failed to meet emissions so their answer was the LT4.
