Yes I used the clutch but never lifted my foot off the gas.

Yes, I would just speed shift ( no lift ). What was the RPM when the gas peddle was all the way down at a stand still?

How come mode 4 and not 5? It says in the book mode 5 is for drag racing.

Mode 4 enabled, quickly put the pedal on the floor, reved up to about 4-5k rpm and quickly back down to about 3500, let clutch go a little faster than normal ( didn't side step it) and held on.

Spun the tires more than I though but really put the power to the ground well. Didn't feel like TC was holding it back like it does in normal TC mode.

With my foot the floor I grabbed second and the car stayed straight (although it felt like the back was skating all over the lane). Second really unleashed the power and it felt amazing.

Foot still on the ground, hit third, kept pulling like it would never stop! Lifted after 3rd as I was running out of road.

Conclusion: Genius!! Hard to believe I just launched a car with 600 HP (roto fab CAI is the only mod) at full throttle and the car came off he line like a bat out of hell. Amazing engineering. My buddy riding shot gun said "That was F'ing crazy....can we do it again?" Lol
Nice

Both yellow lights illuminate in the right guage cluster just like they do in PTM modes. Then, pick your own RPM and launch. By all accounts the nannies are all off. Ignition sequence starts, 5-4-3-2-1

4 is for drag racing on street tires, 5 is for racing on slicks. there was a video floating around describing the ptm's

The GM video says mode 4 for street tires and mode 5 for drag radials and VHt services.

You could have easily been spinning in second gear. I have an auto and was at the track a couple weeks ago and began spinning well into second or third gear. Once the tires let go they'll spin for a while in this cooler weather.

If you just push the loud pedal, it'll go right to the rev limiter. You need to slam that pedal down, and it'll hold the rev's around 4,000 or so tilll to let go of the clutch.
Thank you, sir! I guess that I was letting off of the throttle too quickly before it found the rev. I just tried it out and did a nasty burnout. Gotta get the tires warm next time!

I don't think that the convertables have launch control. I read about it on this board.

Glad to see LC works in the ZL1. There are too many stories in here with SS guys breaking stuff on thier first try and following the owners manual. Kinda ticked me off that Chevy added LC to a vehicle that causes things to break when you follow THIER directions on how to use it..

The verts do have launch control; big thanks to HDRDTD for the heads up. Here are two videos I quickly made the other day after listening to his advice. It finds a sweet spot around 4,000 RPMs, release the clutch, and you are off.

Yea launch control and the no-lift shift is fun. I haven't used them in the last month or so because it's been raining here in Socal and the weather is so cold and we all know how this car reacts to cold tires :(
