Question aftermarket HID lamps?

Does anyone know if the HID lamps will be offered aftermarket from GM?

probably not considering that they are one of the key features of the RS package.

It is possible that some dealers will be willing to install the HIDs individually. Expect the cost to be high and dealers willing to make this happen rare.

**** that, unless you specifically want the projector style headlight housing, then just search ebay when we find out what type of bulbs the car will have and get a Hid kit for 50-100 bucks, thats what i did on my bike and truck both.

Yeah, it's an easy swap to make your car/vehicle HID, but, much less of a pain to get it from GM and you get the halo's!!

Can't these parts be gotten as replacement OEM parts from GM? Like if you had them already and one was broken? I'm sure parts can be gotten, they will make replacements for everything. They don't check your VIN to see if you really had them before do they?

If I get the SS, I might try to just get the HIDs later, considering almost everything else in the RS package is standard on the SS anyways. Even those chrome things around the taillights are standard on LS, which is one of the things I originally though was on RS package. With the SS you get the wheels, and the spoiler standard.

If you can get the foglights aftermarket... and of course whatever wheels you want, that makes it ok to buy the cheap LS model, and get the only things that would give it away replaced. Then the car is less than 25k and qualifies for my free check from TX for 3000 dollars off a new vehicle for airchecktexas. Sweet!

just for future reference, you should probably watch the f-bombs around here. the mods might get onto you.

if you do that, you'll also have to get the ballasts and relays that go with them as well, not to mention rewire the DRL and parking lamp circuits

the RS tail lights have a darker reflector inside. all camaros have the chrome bezels. also, you have to have the RS package to get the Midnight Silver wheels. the SS comes with the Sterling Silver finish

I ordered a NON RS 2SS just because I don't really need any of the other items in the RS package... especially for the $1200 price. But since I can't see myself going back to regular headlights, I really DO want HID's...(halo's would be neat, but not really a huge concern for me). I plan on waiting a few months and ordering them through GM.

Just like every other aftermarket goodie out there, I'm sure there will be a ton of knick-knacks for the Camaro. Just try searching for Mustang accessories and you'll find a bunch of cool.... and mostly ridiculous ricer inspired stuff.
