Forza 5 Impressions From You

I'm wondering how y'all are liking the game. Did it live up to your expectations? How is the car selection? And lastly, does anyone have a link to a car list? All the lists I have seen show far fewer cars than prior versions. From what I have seen there is no Boss 302 or 429, no Z/28 of any year. The video linked in another thread appeared to show cars not on any list I have seen.

I have seen complaints about the in game economy, and it appears a lot of the game has to be downloaded from the net. So real impressions from real players is what I am after.

There are a lot less cars and tracks than the last game. IGN has a complete car list. You're right about there being no Z/28s. No Stingray either which is disappointing. It's a good game and the gameplay is fine I just think they rushed the release and should have had more cars and tracks. No Nurburgring was another huge disappointment.

No 'Ring? I hated racing that track but did enjoy running cars around it Time Attack style. Looks like I don't need to worry about getting this one anytime soon.

The Ring is going to be available as DLC. It does have a 79 Z28 in it as well as a 69 Boss 302. I absolutely love the game.

Since my Heritage Grille didn't arrive in time for Xmas, the wife bought me a copy of Forza 5 to help ward off the winter blues (aka camaro is in storage)

First impressions:

The graphics are SWEET, as are the sound. The details are phenomenal. Ditched the starter car as fast as I could in favor of the ZL1, which is a blast to drive. Haven't modded it yet, but it feels very similar to my SS. There's even a stevenson replica graphic up there for it. Pretty legit.

Just started using the Nissan GT-R Black edition today, also a really fun car. This one i'll never get to drive IRL. Trying to decide whether or not I want to buy up some classic Chevy's or a few supercars.

Great game so far.

Xbone or 360? The Ferrari F50 is a beast as is the Viper SRT10 ACR with a drivetrain swap.

Forza 5 is only on Xbox One.

I think they'll end up adding a lot of stuff as DLC pretty soon.

Guess that makes sense since it needs the cloud and all that for drivatar. They just added a few new race modes online last week including drag racing.

Looking forward to some new tracks too though.

The problem is that they're going to charge an absurd amount of money for all the DLC that should have been on the disc in the first place. I despise it when devs push out a half assed unfinished game for full price and then charge $60 for the "season pass" of bull shit. /rant

Agree to disagree.. The feel and sound of the cars now compared to Forza 4 is ridiculously better. What cars are you missing from Forza 4?

Do you have a XBone?

I'll agree that the feel of the cars has improved since Forza 4, which should be the expectation when jumping to a next-gen console (especially dig the separate feedback for the brake...wow!) Graphics aside, I gotta agree with Mikey that the lack of content from Turn10 is disappointing. A racing simulation game that prides itself on being top shelf, yet no Nurburgring? And with all the newly available resources that come with a more powerful architecture, I can't help but frown at the list of cars being demoted to "arcade racing" level. I mean, I think I had more options to choose from in Outrun!

That being said, do I think the game is a flop? Absolutely not. It was the first game I picked up and I don't regret it a bit. Do I think Turn10 left a lot on the table? Absolutely, and there's a very specific reason why. To get a similar experience and level of available options in 5 that I had in 4, I'm going to be forced to pony up on the microtransactions, which will easily double the investment cost. Unfortunately I can't give Turn10 the benefit of the doubt on this one. They really set the bar in previous installments and have shown us what they're capable of putting out. Going next-gen means that the limitation of having to balance quality AND quantity should no longer be on the table.

In the end there's no question that Turn10 is going to show that they're capable of giving us the quality and quantity that a next-gen experience deserves. Question is...how much are they going to charge the masses for the content that should have been included in the first place?
