If I could afford loaded 2ss I would, there you go. But I can't and since the base 1ss is close to a loaded 2lt price there was no question for me. I love the car for the looks, not for the v8 engine including everything the 1ss doesn't have. I hate cloth! And I'm not ordering leather fabric to put over cloth.
Also a 1ss is much more expensive than my loaded 2lt especially with gas + insurance. Finally coming from a 263hp v6, a 323 hp v6 is more than enough!

Ya its going to be DD, and I will miss my tech/comfort perks. And I realize its a toss up between that or the engine. If it had the convenience and connectivity package, I would have snatched it up.

That said, just love the power. I did take it our for a spin and feels good but I don't plan on stomping the gas pedal all the time, so then what use is the engine...? In a sense.

Will keep my eyes open and see what happens. Also I have 17" winter tire and rims. Am I right in thinking that they WILL fit on the SS RS? dealer says yes. I think forum will say no. What say you?
Most likely no. Depends on the offsets, but most 17s do not. I think there is only one that does actually.

When you order custom leather it does NOT go over the cloth. The cloth is removed and the leather is installed with amazing fit and finish.

Just clearing things up for others.

I'm curious how this works... Who does the swap? What's the total cost all said and done? Do the chair airbags still work? PM me if you need to- don't want to hijack this thread. Slightly interested in this as an option down the road.

Here is a good video of how it is installed.

Airbags work, the leather is designed to give way the same as the OEM ones.

You can do it yourself or take it to an upholstery shop.

I would go with the 1SS. It's easier to swap leather and gauges than it is to swap in a V8.

Not only that, but aftermarket leather will most likely be much higher quality than the cheap stuff GM uses.

Beat ya to it, ordered mine 3 weeks ago.
Now kids, no flame intended here, just a comment. I'm an old dude and back in the day, only girls drove 6 cylinder vehicles. Indeed, things have come a long way since then and owning a sports car with a V6 nowadays seems to be totally acceptable. Just not for this kid!! Don't need any options except for two, Hurst short throw with the LS3.

There appears to be a lot of posts that show their validation in the choice they made...

You choose what works best for you and what you want out of the car... Done!

However, I wouldn't count the V8 out for MPG. Keeping your foot out of it around the city you can get close to 20, When i drive like a sane human i get around 18.5 city. I see close to 23MPG highway, give or take ~70mph.
How!!!? lol i keep it under 2k more around 1500 and I get like 13mpg in the city

It all depends on YOU and YOUR driving habits, YOUR wants and needs. IF money was no object a SS Camaro would probably be my garage queen and a CTS would be my daily driver.

I work from home so MPG was not a factor for me. My last car was a CTS and that thing was a total POS. Tons of problems with that thing, so glad I got rid of it.
