Dash Seperated

So I noticed today that my dash and silver around the gauges behind the steering wheel has seperated. I took it to my dealer and they pulled the silver off, and I have one of the small retainers is like chipped at the top and it's not allowing the silver to sit flush anymore. Only way to get it fixed is to replace the whole dash. And that creates the chance of getting a rattle in the dash. Have any of you had it replaced, if so does it rattle, if not what do you think I should do.

get it replaced as the dealer suggested. If it rattles, it's up to them to fix that as well.

I have the same issue with my gauges bezel.

When you reinstall the bezel, you have to come in at an angle from above the gauges. I managed to make the separation a little smaller doing this.

The separation really bugged me at first, but I've since learned to accept it.

I considered using some silicone adhesive to glue it down to the dash. I still might try this now that the weather is starting to warm up.

I'm afraid replacing the dash may be one of those cases where the cure is worse than the disease.

Yeah, once that piece is removed it will NEVER sit flush again! Mine is nowhere near as bad as the ones pictured above, but there is a small gap at that same corner on almost all I have seen that have been removed.

I actually hardly ever notice mine anymore and just the other day looked to see if it was still there. I guess it just looks normal to me now.

I would take it to the dealer and ask them to see if they can fix it.

Unless I were to get my convertible at <50k new . . . then I'd just assume that my 'stolen' car would eventually get costs recouped at the dealer.

I had the dash replaced in my 2010 SS just over 2 years ago due to the Air Bag cracks and so far, no rattles or squeaks. Really depends on how good the technician is that is doing the replacement.

Common issue, unfortunatly (like you said) the only was to fix this is replace the dash. I've decided to just live with it rather then have my whole dash replaced.

Same issue with mine, noticed it with the original bezel, I replaced it with a painted one and it was much worse, athough I found a way to reseat it and end up with the same gap as the original bezel, I am just going to live with it.

I've got the same problem. I think I will be using some silicone when the weather gets nice out. It's one of those little things that really bothers me. To much OCD!!

Just went out and looked at mine. There is about a 2mm gap in some places going around the gauges, but I feel it is well within the accept limitations. I would never have thought to look had this issue not been posted.

Put a dab of silicone in the gap, use a piece of tape to hold it together until the silicone cures, and you're done.

Gonna get it hydro dipped before I silicone it. And does the strip across the dash on the left side just on there with double sides tape? And the passenger side? Might as well get it all dipped at the same time.
