The preliminary investigation will cover your education, residential history, employment, driving record, credit standing, and any arrests or encounters with the police you may have had. Prepare to feel a bit violated. For example, a good background investigator will not only review your high school and college transcripts, but they are going to talk to your teachers and professors to ask about your attitude, your work ethic, and your demeanor in class.

CHMSC, I have my credit print out.. it's not great.. any idea what kind of stuff they are looking for??? as far as residential history, I have all of my previous addresses but no contact information on who I "paid" rent to.. as they were pretty much friends, but I have lost touch and have no way of contact with them.... I guess all I can do is fill it out to the best of my knowledge.

They want to make sure you don't have people chasing you for money. Collections and things like that. Anything that would reflect bad on them.

How many PD's require that? I know of one for sure but not sure of other PD's that require it.

I work in the livescan field, for those that know.

Most will require a polygraph test.

Higher education = Post high school (college)

Credit report = They're looking for collections, bankruptcies, charge-offs, etc. Pretty much anything derogatory that shows a poor character or inability to handle adult matters responsibly.

BTW, annualcreditreport.com is the website created by the 2003 FACT Act that allows you to get all three credit reports for free annually...if you're ever interested in your actual score, you can purchase one or all of your scores from myfico.com.
