Unfortunate dealer experience

I was at this dealership looking for a camaro, I cant tell how excited i was before entering..... And I was directed to this salesman and I tell him what i was looking for(new manual 2SS) and here is how he starts

salesman: how much down payment are you...?
me: 8000
salesman: are you from india or pakistan?
me:india
salesman: what car are you driving?
me: 2005 ford focus which died recently :( I was a pre-owned car i bought 2 years ago.
salesman: you want to buy a camaro now?
me: that would be great, yes
salesman: are you american yet?
me: what do you mean?
salesman doesnt goes quite for a sec
salesman: I need to make a copy of your drivers license?
me: gave the license.
salesman: takes my license and returns after about 15mins.
me: were you able to make a copy ?
salesman: yes, sorry the machine was acting up on me.
salesman: are you like a muslim or ?
me: I am here to buy a car ?
salesman: lets go out and see what we got there.
shows me a 2SS with 800miles on it. 45000 as msrp.
me: Is this a new car ?
salesman: yes sir
me: I really dnt need additional options, i see this has wheel locks, tint on all windows, rear window tint has stripes, sun roof....... I just need the standard 2SS manual.
salesman: This is how chevy makes them, you buy like this or you dnt? we are the biggest dealership and all the cars in here have these options.
me: you cant be serious
salesman: look over there , the customer just bought a camaro.
points me to somebody near by who was talking to another salesman near a camaro in the lot.
me: its been a pleasure and i walk out from there.


if you want to buy an american car, you got to look like an american? is that what i need to learn from this experience.

I wish this doesn't happen to anybody.

Its all about the dealership. Complain to the owner and don't buy from them. This one guy was VERY rude to me and I wrote about it on yelp and the owner messaged me saying he wanted to make it right. He couldn't come close to my lowest offer.

While I don't think this would be a Hendrick policy (I bought mine at a Hendrick dealer), I have experienced the "not a southerner" bias at lots of other vendors in my area.

I would LOVE to know what dealership this was and if it really was true. If that really is a true story, I would go right up the corporate ladder but I have a hard time believing it is infact true. But nothing surprises me anymore because people really are assholes

I have seen dealers do worse. As bad as it was for this guy, it happens.

I believe it. I think people who aren't typically discriminated against have a hard time believing what some people have to put up with. I hope it didn't happen, but I wouldn't be shocked if it did. Find another dealer.

Call B.S. along with everyone else with half a brain
