V6/V8 ?!?!? WHICH ONE?!?!?!
V6:
LOVE'EM BLACK EDITION V6 IS MY INSPIRATION 304HP +(CONSIDERING CATBACK/CAI) 18" SXY BODY KIT GREAT MPG 11K CHEAPER ... V8: SS 400HP+ 11K MORE... anybody have any real pro's con's that im missing? tough tough decision for me, I have had a 95 and a 96 v6 and loved putting the v8's to shame with a v6 it was so much more rewarding... However each car had horrible endings 95: 3semi bombardment 96: Engine caught on fire completely ...so I kind of think the V6 is my OMEN |

You'll get the V6 sooner then if you order a V8!

The V6 is pretty amazing. It is really difficult to say anything less about it. I would only go with the V8 if you absolutely cannot settle for less because a modded V6 is really going to satisfy its driver.

What are your intentions for the car? Or rather...what do you want out of a performance car?

I am driving a 1LT V6 with the 6 speed manual now. It is a pretty nice package. Everyone that has driven it is very impressed with the overall performance the V6 delivers. A lot of fun is available with that package.
Which is not to say that a V8 wouldn't be reallllly nice. The V6 will easily break the tires loose and will cruse at 75 mph all day long. Downshifting for passing is not required. I'm kind of settling in this way (for me).....if I wanted a daily driver, primary car I would probably get a 2LT RS. If it was a second car or weekend car for fun and cruising, I'd probably get the 2SS RS. The V8 in the G8 GXP we've also been driving is absolutely stunning. It is really hard to make use of that great motor on public roads. So I think it is operting cost vs. total max performance. Also remember the SS includes the Brembo brakes.

The pleasure of shifting through the gears on a powerful V8 is unmatched! It just feels soooo good!!!

If the V6 were availible with Brembo brakes I would seriously consider it. At 300hp it has more power than my 94 Z28 and I love the fact that GM made the V6 very similar to the SS in terms of looks. I will likely get the SS but the V6 version is a fantastic value.

Here's a potentially 'enlightening' question for you. Have you managed to reach the V6 car's 'limit'? |

Yup....the V6 is not to be underestimated. I still love beating on my CTS in traffic and not caring about gas milage since its so good and uses regualar gas anyway. And with the newer direct injected V6 motor I can't imagine how much fun the Camaro would be to drive. I've left some nice black tire marks behind me with the CTS in certain locations and would look forward to doing that with the Camaro too.
But I'm a horsepower junkie and don't need to drive back and forth to work anymore (retired). If I were still working I'd probably opt for the V6 auto trans and be perfectly happy. So...SS/RS manual it will be. But I can assure you the buyers of the V6 will not be disappointed. by the way...where the heck is spellcheck on these posts?
