Windshield wipers not necessary sometimes lol

Well its been absolutely pouring here in tampa the past 2 days and I realized this long ago but feel like mentioning it now. If I am ever driving about 60-65mph+ in moderate rain, I never turn my windshield wipers on. The wind force seems to blow the streaks of rain into small droplets right up the windshield and I can see just fine. I personally hate having windshield wipers on super fast as I think it is distracting... and having it on once every lets say 5-10 seconds doesnt do anything in moderate rain... so thanks to the air, i dont need it

anyone else find they do the same thing? this never happened on my previous cars so the windshield on the camaro must be angled appropriately or something

Yes, it's called Rain-X. I've used that stuff for 22 years and always will.

Rain X

Been using rain repelant for years. Once you see how much it improves visibility, you will never want to drive a car without it. First thing I do to any new car is put rain x on the front window.

I'm gonna try rain x then, I've always seen it at the car wash and what not, but never got it put on.

The reason there is windshield wipers is so cops have somewhere to put your parking tickets.

I used to do this in my '01 Camaro. The slope on that windshield was extreme.

I use turtle wax ice! Works just as good as rain x, but I think it is easier to apply. I ice the entire exterior of the car, paint, rubber, plastic, etc! Also, wether you ice it or use rain x, don't stop at the front window, do them all. It's even more useful on the side and rear where there are no wipers. Also, if you don't have or plan on tint, doing the inside every no and then makes them much easier to clean

Yeah, I sometimes don't need the wipers either. It is more due to another incident that befell me one year. I was headed home from a hunting trip on Thanksgiving day, had a 250 mile trip home, and the wipers quit working 25 miles into the trip on my Silverado.

Being that it was a holiday, no one was open to stop and get them fixed, and it was snowing/raining the whole way home. I had to be back at work the following morning, so I had no choice but to turn the defroster on full and gun it fast enough to force the rain off the windshield. It was, to say the least, a very challenging drive. Especially when I'd get behind a semi and get the full spray in my face going.

It was almost a year before I got around to getting the wiper motor replaced, so I got extremely skilled at driving without wipers. To this day, I sometimes drive quite a while without them before I remember that they do work fine in my Camaro (and my Silverado too for that matter) and flick them on.

Not a "skill" I'd recommend anyone else try to practice and acquire by any means, because it was very dangerous in all likelihood. Just one of those things that happened in my old pickup that I just had to adapt to at one time in my life. If they work, for pete's sake, use them!
