Sick and Tired of salesmen being dumb salesmen
Im so sick and tired of listening to dumb salemen try and make an attempt as selling these camaros with there stylish antics. Not only are they wrong on their information but yet look stupid in their attempt at it. Wether these be floor salesman at a dealership or some bad attempt online at youtube on behalf of their dealerships. Maybe, its just that i know most of the information. Because ive done my homework and know this car inside and out (thankscamaro5), and these guys dont do their research and get all the specs and most the information is wrong.
On a personal note ive walked into dealerships being interested in buying a Camaro and asking questions to the salesman at hand. Just too hear and see what all they know. Testing them on their knowledge of this car and yet been given completly wrong answers. Not only were their numbers wrong but they werent given out details that were crucial to know when buying a car. Feel free to comment if you feel the same way or........ dont No i am not a salesman. Just another 2010 camaro owner |

The salesmen - excuse me, product consultants - at my local dealer are trained to know a little bit about every car they've got, but their knowledge on any one car is never very deep. I guess if you walk into a dealer thinking "I'd like to get a car with 4 doors that can handle snow," that's the kind of salesman you want. Personally, after the second time they told me I probably know more about the car than they do, it stopped being flattering and started being disconcerting.

Have Heart!! If you want to see REALLY ill informed, head over to any Electronics store, and try to ask questions about a computer. Then run back to the Dealership, and give that guy a big Hug!!! LabRat |

People that want to excel at their job will. There has been information about the new Camaro around for quite some time. It is up to the individual to research and learn as much as possible about what they are selling. Unfortunately many do not and they look like fools when they open their mouth. Their job performance is directly related to how much effort they put in to educate themselves.

However, if you don't mind me asking (as you asked for comments), since you already have your Camaro (according to your post), you must have ordered it months ago. That means you were shopping for this car quite awhile ago. So I will assume your experience was way back then, right? If that is the case, did you just go into dealerships recently just to "test" salespeople with your expert knowledge only to have something here to post? So when was your experience with these "dumb salespeople"? BTW, if I had a salesperson who wrote buyer's orders and credit apps with the same grammar and spelling you used in your post, he would be out of our store in a heartbeat. |

That's why you get pre approved credit and know what to ask for and have a set price when you walk in. Your empowered at that point, reguardless.
And there are exceptional salesmen like Camaro Scotty out there. |

Chevy has a special training programs for Corvettes, and once a salesperson graduates, they are a "Corvette Specialist." With all the bad information going around, maybe they should do the same with the Camaro.

I think one of the top 10 rules when car shopping is to already know everything there is to know about the cars you're looking at before even putting a foot through the dealership's doors. You should never rely solely on what the salesman tells you and in the 21st century, with the Internet and whatnot, you have no excuse.

Wondering if anyone has been affected by dealer closings, ordered my car late October 2008, and last Friday my dealership was on the list to close. Yesterday the dealer called me and told me that he would not be able to get my order, he said that he would refund my money, but that if I ordered from another dealership that I would not be guaranteed price protection. The dealer tried to call other dealers in the area and they would order me one but at 5k over sticker. I had agreed to buy mine a 2ss 6sp RJT/black for sticker. This really sucks especially after waiting almost for years

Heres a funny one. I went to a local Dodge dealership just to check out the snazzy new challenger (i like it). The salesman asked me if I considered buying and I said no because I was considering the new camaro (little did he know I had placed my order months before). He then told me that I would get ripped off on the price. I asked how and he told me that because they were in high demand and brand new that they would be around $65-70k.
I tried to take the high road but I just couldnt help telling him that I got priced 36,700 for a fully loaded 2SS/RS with more horsepower than his little R/T. lol A little off topic because it wasn't a chevy dealer but I thought i'd share

ah, finally people are waking and speaking up. now if only GM would wake up and kick their dealerships in the ass.
as i've said before, this is a problem that pretty much every manufacturer has, not only GM. So wouldn't it be nice if GM was the exception to that rule? |

There IS CAMARO Training available to ALL Sales people
Quote:
And the MAIN reason is knowledge of the product. Yes it takes time, but the info is there. I am lucky becuase I ONLY have to do Vettes and Camaros, so I don't have to learn about all the other vehicles at my dealership. Tommy Jr and I took over ALL Camaro sales because only we do the Vettes and we felt it was time the Camaro people were treated like Vette people. Tommy Jr also took the on-line training but could not make the live presentation. BUT in reality, the "live" presentation was not that good. There was WAY better info in the on-line training. Most of the "live" stuff was good in that we actually got to see a real Camaro, but the marketing people seem to be a litte "off" in their strategy. At 99% of dealerships the guy selling Cobalts, Aveos, Silverados, Exuinox, Impalas, Malibus, ect is the same guy selling Camaros and even Corvettes. We do it the RIGHT way at MacMulkin Chevrolet and I KNOW Scotty does it the RIGHT wat at Newman Chevrolet and I KNOW Eric does it the right way at Classic Chevrolet. Other than that I can't answer for. By the way if anyone feels they know so much about Camaros they should ask the OWNER about becoming their local dealerships CAMARO expert!! Don't take that wrong becuase that was how I started in the business. I knew WAY more than just about everyone at my local delaership about Corvettes. So I talked to the owner and now I'm their Corvette and Camaro "expert." And I LOVE the JOB!! I only do it part time but you can get a whole different perspective about the car industry once you are on the inside. Ron |

MacMulkin, just curious, how hard was the test? It would be really interesting to see how the average Camaro5 member would score. I wonder how well I would do. What kind of questions did they ask? I find it pretty interesting
