Smile Why Did You Buy A Camaro?

Share your story!

Mine:

It all started when I was 4 years old. This has been my favorite car since then. 1994 z28 in red that my step dad owned. I sat in that car for hours wishing I could drive it. I said "when I get old enough, I'm going to buy this car!" I did. 1994 Camaro z28 in burgundy. Last August(2011). Car had heavy mods. I'm not to much of a performance guy but I liked the extra power and especially the sound!

About 2 months(Nov. 2011) later after closing out my first year as a Honda car sales PROFESSIONAL, I noticed that I made some pretty good money. Enough to afford a new Camaro! After about a week of HARD, I mean HARD research(thanks to forums like this one and C-Z28.com) I decided on color and options. Searched on Auto trader to see who had it available and BAM there it was a dealer pretty close to my home. 1LS M6 IOM with black hockey stripes and a rally stripe down the middle. Called Chis Peroni of ROCKMONT Chevrolet in Rockville MD (personal Plug) he was a great guy. Didn't just blow me off because I was a 20 year old kid looking for a camaro.

The process was one for the books! I wanted to lease because like i aid before I wasn't going to be looking into heavy mods. I found out that GMAC(GM finance company) had HORRIBLE residuals. Luckily working where I work(POHANKA HONDA IN MARYLAND) we are closely affiliated with a credit union for secret service members that happen to lease cars! Great residual and great rates! So I got the loan approved 3 years, 15K miles. I also figured the Camaro would be due for a at least slight re-design in 2015/16.

I had slight negative equity with my 2011 Chevy Cruze (another reason I leased the Camaro) so that didn't help my payment of course. I can afford the SS but being a car salesman I looked at the cost of ownership and going from a 4 cyl. to a V8 monster for a 21 year old wasn't the best idea. Especially still living @ home.

So on the night of November 30th 2011, I purchased a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro 1LS V6 MT. I just hit 5K miles and have loved every single mile. Not only is it a chick magnet but I get respect from older Camaro and even a couple corvette guys to. Only mods are:
RS Headlamps
Vinyl blackouts
SS wheels
Red Interior lighting(JWmotors)
Fog Lights
LED turn Signal (JWmotors)

So that is why I purchased my Camaro and a little extra.

If you guys don't mind sharing why and how you purchase I'd like to know!

P.S. I used search! Didn't find anything. Mods delete if this is a dup!

I bought mine because it was the best bang for the buck in it's class in 2009 and it looked the best out of the Camaro, Challenger, and 370Z which I was inquiring about at the time.

My Uncle's 1969 Camaro was probably from the start what caused me to start liking cars when I was just a wee little one. My Dad has owned 2 Camaros a 71 and 78. It just runs in the family to buy a Camaro

I have always wanted a Camaro and when I saw the 5th Gen come along I knew I was going to buy one at some point. Turns out a lot sooner than I thought and was able to get a brand new 2012 last month. WOOT!

I've been a GM nut my whole life too so that may have something to do with it lol

but on a serious note, i went to order one today and they arnt taking orders right now.
but i want to order one because ive always grown up having / driving/ being around
strickly barely legal hot rods and i knew that i want something that nurtures my need for speed but that can also provide the amenities of the generation in which i am accustomed.

$32K. 426 hp. IRS. Sexy.

I wish I would have saved and bought what I really wanted, and I plan on cutting my losses and doing just that, but I still enjoy it for all its faults and shortcomings.

I bought a camaro because for the last 20 years I've had to drive around in family friendly vehicles and was ready for some fun. kids are older and we don't often all end up in the same vehicle, and for the times we do I have other cars available. and another big reason I chose it was because unlike the mustang, they're aren't a million of them everywhere. I've never like driving what everyone else is driving.

and of course the biggest reason I was able to was cause the wife let me.

The car looks absolutely amazing. It was between the overpriced 2 seat 370z the mustang which is the best bang for speed but i much prefer the look of the camaro for overall looks and price
