Diff Gaskets?

Does anybody know where you can get the drain plug gaskets for the rear diff? They never seem to be mentioned in any of the diff threads and mine are pretty much gone.

Those appear to all be oil pan fasteners/gaskets.

You would be surprised what you might find in the Lowes (or similar) specialty fasteners. That gasket looks to be a square cut O-ring.

I used O-rings made from gasket materials for oil plugs before. In a pinch, I've put a round O-ring in until I could find the correct piece.

McMaster Carr industrial supply is like the candyland of O-rings and sealing washers. Every size in every material you can dream of and some you cant.

There should be a GM part number for these things though? Im genuinely surprised that there isn't a link or source for these as much as people recommend changing diff fluid around here. Mcmaster carr would work great if I knew exactly what size and material it is supposed to be. Oil drain plug gaskets would work great but they aren't nearly big enough. I wish a place like Phastek had a "maintenace" section where I could get Oil Filters, Orings, Friction Modifier, Clips, etc.

Did you call the dealership? The service department sure stocks them in their consumables.

I have not called the dealership, I really dont like dealing with the local service department, but if its my only option that's what I will be doing. I was just hoping somebody had these somewhere.

maybe use a stat o seal. I use those on High pressure Hydraulic systems. You can probably get one at a local hydraulic shop too.

I had to call the dealer and I had to buy the whole plug and it had to be special ordered. Seems a little ridiculous for a simple $.50 gasket. Total cost was $22 so not awful.
