LS9 Cam.. What other parts do i need?
I'm about to pull the trigger on the LS9 Cam and LS9 springs. Is there anything else i should get? Do I need new pushrods or rocker arms or will my stock ones work fine?

If you are going through the trouble of changing the cam, do something that will make you more power and still drive like stock. I would swap to a three bolt cam so you would need the correct cam gear. I don't like doing anything over .630 lift on stock rockers. More than that and the wipe across the valve tip isn't that good. I would do upgraded trunnions on the stock rockers. Comp Cams and Brian Tooley Racing make some. I used the BTR ones in my C6. It gets rid of all the needle bearings in the stock rockers. While you are in there you could do a Melling high pressure oil pump. I would also get a C5R timing chain.

You have to run the 3-bolt cam gear. I would also install the LS-2 dog bone while you're in there. I have the LS9 cam and 3-bolt cam gear for sale if you are interested. 5000 miles on them and are perfect. $75 for both. If you are doing the swap yourself it's worth it. Good luck!

new crank bolt, gaskets for water pump & timing cover. Look at the Brian Tooley site as it has install kits to do it right. You can swap pushrods too. http://www.briantooleyracing.com/btr...ation-kit.html

I would also get the edelbrock 2 piece timing cover. Makes it allot simpler if you ever want to change cams in the future.

IF you are going to change the camshaft and void the warranty
THEN you should consider a higher lift, rougher idle cam so you can get more satisfaction every time you start the engine and when people take notice at the stop light. I'm running a Lethal Racing Night Fury blower cam and love it. |

cam, springs, timing cover gasket, water pump gasket, possibly timing chain tensioner some reuse I would proabalby go new, arp balancer bolt (torque to yeild stock bold sucks IMO).
I had a buddy have his oil pump bypass stick open(thank god it was wile he was waiting to enter the track as oposed to 6k rpm on track) I just fixed it this weekend. so wile you there it is something to consider he went Katech I did no research wich I would run. pretty easy to do wile your there the pick up tube is the PITA on that side though. tighten the tube to the pump then pump to the motor worked better for me. I don't have good info on the pushrods though as I have not done my cam yet. I am really leaning towards a brian tooley setup if I do. on the springs since the LS9 has TI valves I am not sure if those are what you want they my be spec'd different for lighter valves.
