Fitting 4 Wheels in Car

Any suggestions on how to fit 4 wheels (+ tires) in the Camaro? I have separate wheels and tires for DD vs Track.

So far the best solution I've found is to get a trailer hitch.

My previous car was a hatchback and I could fit 6 wheels + tires in the car!

I actually saw a guy do this, he had the rear seat out.

I have carried 4 305 wheels and tires. 1 in the trunk 2 in the back seats and 1 in the front passenger seat. I had them all wrapped in bags as well.

Oh wow, amazing that they'd fit in the car with the rear seat out. I was thinking it was impossible.

I can't take my rear seats out though, I'm in the stock classes when I race :(

Edit: Really?!? They'll all fit in the car even w/ the rear seats in? I'll have to give it a shot in emergencies.

I guess the best way of doing all this without getting dirt and brake dust all over the rear seats is to have the rear seats down? Finagling the wheels through the passenger door into the rear should be fun.

He has a trailer and a "hidden" hitch on his 1LE and tows a small trailer with a full set of tires/wheels, a truck bed tool box and other goodies. Tells me it tows it real easy. A Harbor Freight trailer for the base I think. Worked great when we went to the track.

A guy bought my SS wheels and tires. He fit all four in his camaro. One in the trunk, two in the rear seat and one in the passenger seat. It isn't pretty but it is doable.

Although I probably wouldn't modify the hitch like he did. If we don't have to cut into the plastic, why do it?

Anyone think I could get away with just a cargo carrier vs an actual trailer?

I'm really glad to know that all the wheels will fit in the car. Will be helpful in a pinch. I couldn't do that to my leather seats though. Putting brake dust-covered wheels that would wrinkle and dirty the seats makes that a no-go for me.

Thinking I'm going to go for a cargo carrier. Will just make sure to load it as light as possible.

That way don't have to deal with the lower speed limits and worrying about the trailer doing crazy things. Will have to make sure to get a hitch that has the appropriate tongue weight rating.

Lol, I did the same thing, just don't pull to much G, otherwise that front seat tire will be in your face

Has anyone tried loading two wheels through the trunk? 1 wheel through the rear seat passthrough and another in the trunk? Is the passthrough space tall enough to fit a wheel?

The cargo carrier + 2 wheels gets very close to the 200 lb tongue weight restriction.

Trying to avoid the trailer idea. The hassle of registering the trailer, hooking up lighting, finding storage space, building a trailer to my specs is so much work! At that point, might as well get a dedicated enclosed trailer.

On this front. Tried loading two wheels in the trunk today. 1 partially in the wheel well and the other partially through the passthrough.

Doing it once, not planning on doing it often. The wheel barely fits through the trunk opening and the trunk passthrough. These are narrow 285/35/20 Comp 2 A/S tires. Wider racing tires will not fit. Also lifting 60-65 pounds at an odd angle while trying to not scratch the car/wheel is not great. The wheel also poorly fits in the wheel well. Probably the same as leaving the trunk floor in place.

Now the solution is either:
1. Two Wheels on Roof Rack + Two Wheels on Hitch-mounted Cargo Carrier
2. Four Wheels on Hitch-mounted Trailer

Leaning towards a trailer for ease-of-use but will need to figure out storage.

Hijacking this thread to ask, since you stated you carried 4 305's, Are you or anyone reading running 305's on all four corners? I'm looking to buy 4 new meats soon and want to stay square, but also put as much rubber on the course as I can for autoX.

If you are staying with 20" 1LE wheels and getting the 305/35/20 RS3v2, they will fit fine. A local guy runs them on his 1LE. I would recommend getting 285/35/20s though, much better gearing.

Recommend getting RE-71Rs in 19" if you are close to the top in your group in are aiming to win PAX or whatnot.
