Angry Count me among the Camaro SS crime victims.

I will try to keep my tale of woe short. 3 weeks ago on a Friday night, I park my beloved Camaro SS/RS in the parking lot of our apts. My wife and I took our dogs for a walk and were back inside about 8:00pm. We both had to work the next day and got up early and were ready around 6:30am. When we get down to our cars in the communal area out in front of our building, we notice that some POS has jacked up the back of my car. They have stolen the back two tires and rims, and left the car sitting on two big rocks placed under the rocker panels.
Needless to say, I was shocked, outraged, and hurt all at once. I called the police and my insurance. Police came and took a report. (Evidently, a Mustang had the same thing happen the night before at these apts.). My insurance took care of having the car towed to the dealership where they replaced the back tires and two rocker panels. (Total cost was nearly $5,000! I was only out $500 deductable. I was also without my car for two weeks waiting on specific parts.). I have her back now and she's as good as ever. I invested in 4 locking lug nuts. I put one on each wheel. I still feel pissed that people will do things like this, but realize ultimately there is nothing I can do. The reason we live here is because it's such a nice and quiet area. In 6 years living here, we've never had any trouble at all. Our apt faces away from the parking area, so there's no way I could have heard/seen anything.
I have some pics of the damage, but I thought I would spare anyone the trauma of seeing a Camaro with her back tires stolen and rocker panels damaged.
Anyway...that's my tale of woe.

Sorry to hear that and I hope there is a hell that's populated by thieves.

BTW, you might want to look into The System by Gorilla, where each lug is a lock. Nothing is certain, but five locks per wheel vs. just one goes a long way to keep the amatures from stealing from you.

Sorry to hear about that!

Which wheels did/do you have on the car?

Bad news bro...my 2SS/1LE will be garage parked (if I can convince my wife that my ride is more important than her Toyota Camry)!

So sorry you had to endure this. I know it is an awful feeling of violation. Glad to hear your Camaro is back as good as new. Hopefully the thieves will get what is coming to them.

I had the factory rims on her. I didn't have any locking lug nuts previous to this as I didn't think it would happen where I live. (I know. I should have thought better.) the reason I only put one locking lug per wheel is I feel this was a crime of opportunity. My reasoning is that if it looks like something that will take some time to defeat, then the their will move on to an easier target.
Many thanks for the compassion. I know most here love their Camaros as much as I do mine and would understand my pain.

Theres been other posts on this and I bought a set of wheel locks just havent put them on. Looks like today I might get a round tuit. What gets me is how they get away with doing this unnoticed.

A locking nut does nothing really. Someoe could just loosen them up with a good pair of pliers or vice grip imo

Thats why I got the Gorilla locking system, 5 per wheel, and if someone tries, they WILL be looking right at the barrel of my Glock 21SF or one my many crime deterrent devices.

While I agree that one locking lug nut per wheel can be overcome, I did it to make my wheels a little tougher to boost than the next car's wheels. Nothing is fool-proof, but most thieves are going to go after the easiest and quickest target.
Thanks for the suggestions, though.
