I pay $35 for 6 qt of Mobil 1 full synthetic and take it to the dealer where I bought the car and they change it with a new oil filter for $20.

If you have a Valvoline near you, they usually have coupons online for a certain amount off an oil change there. And the SynPower full synthetic has the Dexos rating required for the Camaro. I would be wary of the places that quoted you such low prices. Make sure they are giving quotes for a full synthetic that meets the Dexos Requirement and not just there conventional oil.
I did my own oil change on my SS and at 8 qts plus a nice filter it cost me just as much to do it myself as it did when I had Valvoline do it.

This thread reminded me to go change the oil once I get the car out of the garage. I really didn't realize dealers are charging $75 plus to do this job.
Though getting rid of the oil is somewhat of a pain.

So easy to love Camaros

I service all my vehicles, although I find the C5 oil changes require me to not only drive her up on ramps but jack the rear just to get under it. Freaking car is low to the ground. $400 bucks for those all aluminum ramps is steep.
A quart of Synth is running $9 and a quality filter RP is $15, with tax its just over $100 for the materials up here in CT. Still, peace of mind of knowing what I've got in her is worth it.

I'm running 10W30 Mobil 1 because of my cam. I provide the oil (can be a PITA to find at a reasonable price) and dealer does the change with filter for $14.95. I watch them like a hawk, but its hard to beat the convenience.

Oil changes require oil, filter, and labor. In the current ecconomy, oil and labor is expensive. You can save a lot of money if you change your oil yourself. Just be aware. To do so will require you to get your hands...........DIRTY!!!!

First oil change you said?
I just had my first oil change last week. FREE !!!!! My dealer throws in the first oil change on any vehicle it sells for no charge. I don't know about 2LT's, but my 2SS came with Mobil 1 synthetic. My dealer normally charges $89.95 for an oil change, but they also rotate tires, check brakes and tire air pressure. |
