Help Changing Belt on TVS 2300
I'd like to go ahead and swing a new drive belt on before I head to the track tommorrow. Can you guys give me any advice or secrets about doing this. I tried to move the idler (15mm) but it doesn't move enough to pop the belt off. Ted Jannetty mentioned something about the tensioner and then I read the instrustions and it said something about idler pulley lever bolt. But I'm not certain what to do with it and don't want to screw it up. Thanks for any help guys.

Thanks, I'm got it. I reread Ted's email looking at everything and it all added up. But what's the best way to get the tension back on that thing. The manual shows two guys. This could get interesting!

It's difficult, took two people to do mine. Take off tensioner, add belt, let car run idle for a bit then reintroduce the tensioner.
I went with the 3.4" pulley and a belt Mike Haddad from Haddad Motorsports recommended (Gates Ko60938 6pk2385) and no slippage whatsoever! |

best way to put belts on is loosen the inner bolt on the spring tensioner then take the outer spring tensioner bolt out while prying it toward the passenger side.. then let loose.. then put back on same way, and in theory could do it the same way for tightening the belt. Move the fixed tensioner tighter, then put the spring loaded one back in place.

Maybe I'm the best belt changer ever but it was really easy by myself. Less than five minuetes. I had the belt guide so routing is was simple. I'm just not sure how close to make the two tensioners. I have them as close as possible without touching. I'll check with Ted in the am. The car started right up and the belt didn't fly off so I'm calling it successful.
Drew, Thanks for the belt info. I'll try and grab one on the way to the track. I have a gates, green-stripe, not sure on the #, but it doesn't hold to well. Just looked, its a Gates 60947 |

That is the right way to do it. If your belt is too easy to put on, then something probably isn't right. (Belt is most likely too big). Please keep in mind that these belts have quite a bit of stretch to them. If you don't believe me feel free to mark your tensioner after placing a new belt on, then check it after a day of driving. Thanks Mike Haddad |
