Using only the logic to count MY production, we could then say the Mustang won't be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2014 due to its absence during 74-78 MY.

Mustang II (you know -- the "nicer" Pinto) may have been produced, but it was an entirely different model (just as the Ranger-based Bronco II was to the full-size Bronco).

I believe the logic used to say 45 years for the Camaro is simply stating we were given the Camaro in 1967.

As much as it pains me to say it, the Mustang II is considered a Mustang and is attached to its generation lineup. All it is is the advancement in chassis for the second generation.

GT-R and Mustang II in the same thread on the same page?! We are approaching critical mass...maybe the Mayans were right about this year...

If by advancement you mean advancing to the next number and not an actual mechanical advancement -- I believe most would consider the Mustang II to be a "digression in chassis" if that were the case.

Mustang II competed with the Monza -- there was no Mustang to compete with the Camaro "back then." 2nd gen Vega ftw!

However, to avoid an actual dissertation on the Mustang II and Monza, I will concede that the Mustang II is considered another Mustang by Mustang loyalists grasping for any reason to be better than a Camaro. How's that sound?

Then I must be blind... because I don't see where it says 45 years of production, 45 model years, etc. I see "Celebrating the 45th Anniversary..." and a tag that says "45 Years". I still see nothing wrong with this.

Why do you guys continue to dispute this. Why 45 years? Because GT-R, that's why

If something dies, then gets reborn, there is a gap.

Yes, by no way am I saying the Mustang II was an advanced model. It was just newer.

It is not for us to reason why. GT-R is all one needs to know. I have become enlightened.
