Mine was put on by dealer when I bought the car. I never take it off, lol. Soon to be getting a catch can as well. See my thread in the 1LE forum for a picture of intake.

OP, the reason it is technically only for off-road use is that, in temps below 32 degrees, moisture can collect it in and eventually run into the crankcase. That moisture will then compromise your oil and be bad for the engine. Theoretically.

So, if you drive year round, you will want to take it off in the winter. Otherwise, there are no negative side effects .

Contact Steve at Elite Engineering and he will take care of you. There cans are the best in the business. These videos might help as well:

This clean side catch can is only really necessary for the track, as the flow is usually INTO the valve cover from the intake tube. Only under WOT does the crankcase build up enough pressure to push oil vapor back up into the intake tube. Hence why you'd use it while racing

Living in SE GA, the car never sees temps below 40 (usually), so I left ours on as it was installed at the dealer. If the car were to experience cooler temps, I would not leave it on for condensation / freezing reasons.
