Forced Induction and Reliability/Longevity

Hey Guys I am looking to either supercharge or turbo my Camaro around spring break time, just before summer. This is my daily driver and will probably remain my daily for awhile. I am not looking to put down crazy numbers, thinking in the 500 - 550rwhp range, I realize this is very conservative for a forced induction LS3. My question is, how bad if at all, does it really affect the reliability and longevity of the vehicle as a whole? I also realize this is kind of a loaded question, so I guess im looking for guys who are currently in that range of hp, and have put quite a few miles on their cars with forced induction with no problems.

Any input is much appreciated!

Currently I'm running headers, full exhaust, CAI and tune for 407hp/403tq on 91.

Again, Thanks in advance for the help!

At your goal, you will be fine for a long time. Tune is key, dont skimp on fuel but at 550 that should be minimal. Give ADM a call......or SNL Performance in Ft Worth. They are my go to shop. Also at 500 to 550 you wont really need to upgrade the entire drivetrain.

Trust me...........you will not stop at 550 So be prepared for the addiction.

Agreed, go with an easily upgradeable system because 550rwhp isn't what most think it will be like.

IMO ECS ftw, great power. 550 ish base kit, great price, easy to install, great support.
Down the road, pull the restrictor plate, add cam and meth and go 700hp+
Plus when you're granny driving it, still feels stock.

Plus my brother and I are in Tulsa all the time we could come steer ya straight on install

Id recommend the AGP base kit for an easy 600whp and ability to to 700+ at a later date, because you WILL want more. It will be cheaper in the long run.

You will have to sell your headers if you go TT though.

Since you already have headers you will be over 550 with the ECS 1500 kit. I'm at 570 with the kit and headers.

This exactly. You say you only want 500-550 now. Wait till you have it and realize these cars are really heavy and don't go that fast there. Stock LS3 will do 700whp for a long time on a good safe tune. Put together a plan now of how you want to get to 700whp. TT kit with a meth kit will do it real easy.
