1st Time at 1/4 Mile... Kinda Embarassing
So my local Camaro Club had a big event today at the local 1/4 mile track including a car show, test n tune and a little bracket racing. Figured, why not run my car and see what it'll do. Best of only three passes I did was a 12.609 @ 120.55mph with a 2.084 short time. Embarassing part is the car has AGP's base TT kit at 9psi and a magnaflow catback making 588/593 to the wheels on my L99. The car is otherwise completely stock and obviously traction was the issue at that power level on the stock pirelli's and 21" wheels but geez. The thing literally spun thru the 330' mark and actually got sideways on the second pass at half track.
Obviously the car is capable of much better should traction and suspension be on point. I've got some BMR trailing arms and toe rods along with M&H 325 DR's and skinny fronts on order so judging by the mph I'm assuming the car will haul the mail once that all gets put on. I knew going into it that traction would be practically non-existent but I was at least expecting 11's lol

Don't look at it as a fail but rather a starting point. Learn from it and keep trying.

Tires and wheel will do more then all other for you. And that should put you in the high 10s low 11s with that HP

Takes a lot of things to make a turbo package work at the track. Once you get the tires, boost controller, 2 step and the right converter you will be hard to beat.

my cousin has a similar setup but with 12psi drag radials and a bunch of bmr suspension parts. best he could do was 11.5@125. it needed a converter or 2 step to build boost off the line

Yeah I agree a 2 step and a converter would be great for this car after the DR's and suspension pieces get put on. I was only launching at like 1200 rpm mainly because I knew I wouldnt be able to hook anyway but that only became more apparent when she was in full boost and on full tilt lol. But I'd hope for more than 11.5 @125, hell I'm not far from that spinning thru the first three gears lol.

When mine made 588 I ran 12.0s at 120 on street tires so your there on mph. Just gotta work on everything else.

Not surprised at all but you have a starting point. I am sure you probably were though based on the claims of the kit "running 11's on a stock motor".
Did you build the car with aspirations to run the 1/4 mile? Have you drag raced before?

My goals were more of a street beast than a 9 second car when I started out. I knew she would spin but I figured low 12's weren't out of the question and was hoping this thing would pull mid 11's with proper tires, a few suspension pieces and a drop of meth in the mix. I have a good bit of experience in drag racing purpose-built sportbikes but it's a bit different in an automatic TT V8 car.

I would say it has to be capable of much more. I'm running twin turbos on my V6 with around 450whp of so and I'm running low 12's and trapping 119 on general gmax all seasons with about a 2.1 60ft. I really want to get high 11s with no meth and no drag radials, just the turbo kit on an otherwise Stock v6(exept exhaust).

At your power level it's difficult to hook on street tires, and sometimes, well, the cars can spin so bad it's kinda dangerous.
Once you get the DRs on you will be much happier.

Yeah I'm super anxious to get the skinny fronts and drag radials on and see what that alone does for the car. It definitely got sketchy on me, like I said, on the third pass (which was the last pass of the day because of it) she got loose on me and got pretty sideways at about half-track. I think between the fact that I can't use the first three gears/the first 330ish feet of the track, and these 21's are heavy as all hell, the times should come down quite considerably once I go with the light Weld wheels and sticky tires. Toss meth and suspension in the mix and I'm hoping for at least mid 11's.
