13.6 @ 104 mph at 6000' DA equates to 12.58 @ 112 mph.

I would say he has an advantage over a stock Camaro SS. What would be better would be to hear from some guys running in similar DAs to see what their stock Camaros run.

These Camaros don't like heat if I knew this I probably won't have bought mine. I was running 13.6 at 106 with my L99 at the strip last night and the power felt nothing like it usually does when my car is cooler. The drag strip I ran at has you wait in line with engine running behind many cars, by the time I get to the start line by car is all heat soaked and bogs still I was able to do mid 13s. Cai intake and tune.

Heat and humidity have the same effect as altitude on a car. I live in South Florida so I know all about the heat and its affects on performance. On average these cars run .1 slower for every 10 degrees of temperature increase.
Prior to my converter, my car ran 12.40 with temps in the 80s. It ran 12.23 with temps in the 60s. It ran 12.16 with temps in the 50s.
If I had a chance to run my car with temps in the 30s, it would have run 11.9s.
So temperature has a huge effect on performance. A 90 degree day at sea level equates to a DA of about 2500 ft.

Your 13.6 @ 106 is a good time for a stock L99. 106 mph trap speed is good for low 13s with a better 60' time.

He has the advantage in the 1/4 mile, but I think if it were to keep going the camaro would have him top end.

The Camaro would almost surely catch him beyond the 1/4 mile.

Those S/C cobalts aren't all that impressive tbh (no offense intended).

The turbos are another story...

I say the cobalt gets beat. Since your sc'd the car won't run much faster at sea level just to let you know. Most camaros are running 110 minimum and the Balt with your mods might trap 107-108.

This is simply not true. I know what everyone says, but I have the real world experience to back it up.

Racing in Utah at 4500 feet above sea level, my cousin in his Buick Regal GS ran a 14.7 while I ran 15.0 in my Grand Prix (we both had stock internals at this point). Both vehicles have the 3.8 supercharged V6.

One week later, we both ran at sea level in comparable temps. He ran 14.1 and I ran 14.4-14.3ish. There were no additional mods added between this time and we ran race gas both times.

If you check the NHRA altitude correction numbers, this is like EXACTLY on.

Anyway, I think the Cobalt has the advantage if the Camaro is bone stock. It might be a driver's race though because if the Cobalt gets a bad launch, it might not be able to recover against the Camaro.

I traded in my 2009 cobalt ss for my camaro and when I drove away I said to myself I just shelled out 18k more and got a slower car with less options.
That car with only a tune felt like a rocket ship compared to the camaro.
Then I took the camaro to the track and 2nd pass ever on a hot night without touching the car I went 13.50 so I agree its gonne come down to mods and mainly the driver. unless hes got a good amount of work in his camaro hes dilusional thinking hes much faster than you.

I talked to my friend with the turbo Cobalt and he said with your mods and being a SC not a turbo....It would be a driver's race if the Camaro is stock.

60' - 2.359
330 - 6.100
1/8 - 9.079 @ 81.53
1000' - 11.603
1/4 - 13.672 @ 109.47

I understand that I'm at sea level and that helps. On the other hand it was 91F and quite muggy. Not sure which is really worse, thin air or hot/wet air. I have no doubt though that a better driver would have had much better numbers.
we have a local track? Gainesville?

Before I get into it... I just want to say I LOVE the new Camaro, and I will upgrade one day.

OK... so that being said, I was at a local "tuner" gathering about 2 weeks ago with my car club. A guy drove up in a CGM 2010 Camaro SS/RS, as he was passing by I give him the thumbs up... Cuz I'm seriously in LOVE with his car! Well he stops and rolls down his window, so I walk over to just talk cars with him... when he looks at my Cobalt and says its ugly & slow and he'd walk me any day of the week... ?!@$%*! (he caught me off guard for sure) I couldn't help it... I just started laughing...

Well me being one of the Presidents of my Cobalt club & I DON'T street race... BUT, I DO hit up the weekly Test and Tune at our local drag stip, Bandimere speedway

here was my best run

60'=2.217
1/8=8.974
82.68mph
1/4=13.684
104.77mph

this was on an incomplete tune, major exhaust leak, Bad IC Pump, and at the time I was running our local 91 octane. (just installed my METH kit on Monday) Also got a new Cat back, and data logged and fixed my tune.

Ohh and we're in Colorado, so I'd be about a second faster at sea-level.

Any who, as I'm not an official expert on the Camaro's, I wanna know how you all think we would stack up? I want to challenge him at the next Tuner gathering this weekend.. and if you're all up to it, I might be able to get some video.

Ohh and here is my current MOD list:

06 Cobalt SS/SC
Front and Rear rotated Trans mount
1.5 Drop
ZZP 2.9 Pulley
60# Injectors
HUGE Heat Extractor
ZZP CAI
Hahn Cat back Exhaust
Methanol Kit
Trifecta Tuned

I'm unsure what if any MOD's the Camaro has.

Please discuss and let me know what you all thing the outcome will be.
I think in a 1/4 it'd be really close once the camaro started moving you'd get the 0-60 (assumption) but he'd kill it there after so i guess it depends on the driver...
