Some states don't require a front plate. Those who don't have a front plate, but are in a state that requires it, run the risk of being stopped and ticketed. Some feel it's worth the risk to run without the front plate or holder attached as it really takes from the look of the car.

I see the dealer has already attached your front plate holder, so there's not alot you can do without some bodywork and paint as there have been holes drilled in your front facia by the dealer to attach the holder.

If you do a search, there are retractable front plate holders, but again, your front facia has already been drilled, so it's kinda like closing the barn door after the horse escaped. I'd just attach the front plate where you already have the plate holder attached.

It pretty much depends where you live. In this area they aren't real anal about it. Probably because it's fairly rural and there are no red light cameras yet to generate revenue. I, for one, would like to see legislation passed so DMV could offer a registration surcharge to have no front plate. I would gladly pay $25-35/ yr for it. Could just have a different color window reg sticker. Must be time to write my legislator.

Hey, I'm in CT and it's the law here as well. If you don't drive stupid no one bothers you. Just leave it off and put it in the trunk. That way if you do get stopped you'll have it. Most cops understand not wanting to kill you bumper. There are so NY guys that have them suction cupped to the upper corner if the passenger side windshield. It works for them. Gd luck!!!

The holes are drilled in your bumper cover, I'd leave them on.

I know of a few folks here in town who have been stopped with no front plate (including a 70 year old woman) and I just didn't want to run the risk with this car (it draws enough attention as it is). I honestly don't mind the front plate.

In my province its mandatory to have a front and rear plate visible at all times on a regular licenced vehicle, my silverado having a front ss conversion I decided to run the risk of running without a plate on my bumper, but stick it in the windsheild on the dash instead, my Camaro which is due to be delivered late next week (yeahhaww!) will not have a licence plate either, but it will be registered as a seasonal vehicle and will only require the rear one, so I guess it depends how important the looks of your car is to you....is it worth the risk?

In states or countries where front plates are required, a very good car dealer will leave the front plate bracket and screws unmounted in the trunk. The dealer leaves it up to the owner to decide whether they want to drill holes in the front bumper.
In Ca, they are required but it's a seldom enforced fix-it ticket. Well worth the risk of not mounting a front plate. Front plates lying on the dash is not legal in ca.

Arkansas doesn't require a front plate. I asked the dealership to leave it off or I wasn't buying the car. Guess what? No front plate bracket...
