what am I doing wrong??
Went to the drag strip for the first time on the new setup:
IPS turbo kit on 9.5 psi TH400 with 3500 stall from circle D with the stock 3.27 rear gears stock everything else running on 18x10.5 race stars in the rear wrapped in 305/40/18mt s/s and 17x7 welds in the front. Car is a dog coming off the line but once it gets into boost it hauls ass. Tried experimenting launching at different rpms, slowest time was launching from idle and fastest was launching from 3k rpm at 0 pounds of boost. As a result my 60ft are disastrous. I know with a proper launch and a decent 60ft i can get into the low 11's. Help me out |

How do you launch at 3k with 0 boost??? Stock block/cam setup? A turbo launching off the line at 0 boost make absolutely no sense....did you get the car dyno tuned? So may questions....update your sig with your setup so peeps can reply based on relevant info...peace out....
also your converter is stalling at 3500k!!!! IMHO your launch rpm minimum should 3500..prob more like 4k....hope your axles live...good luck!

frankwrx is correct. Way to little stall for a turbo car. You need to be up into the mid to high 4,000's.....I would target 4800-4900 for launch in order to get the turbo spooled up. Do that and you should drop a second off those times and have your 60' down in the 1.40-1.50 range.
Gears are also not the best fro launch, a 3.91 would be better. But most of your issue is in the low of stall. If you had a P blower, then go that low, but NA or turbo needs far more stall. |

Even with no boost taking off 60ft should be better. Are u spinning? Mt street r are real good radials. I'm taking off on no boost cutting 1.5 60fts on mickey thompson et streets. Stalling to only 2500

Makes sense, I went for that stall based on circle D's recommendation. I guess I might need to send it out for a restall |

No spinning at all the tires are great. My issue is in the launch, car is a dog till it gets into boost. I have another test and tune this upcoming weekend I'll try to get 3.81's and a 2-step before that and see how It works.

With the 400 you need more gear 3.91 would help on the bottom . I'm S/C with the 4L80 and 3.91 60' mid 1.40s low 1.50s

But don't turbos like load? I've read around that the 3.23 works better than 3.91 for turbo setups as 3.91's would make the th400 shift to the next gear asap

The 400 gear are long. If you was running the 6l with the 3.23 it would be fine. What's your RPM at the trap line? The 4.10 gear out there may not hold up their not made as good as the GM 3.91. If they was I would run them. I myself want to trap as close to 7000 rpm as I can. I have more room so I need more gear or more HP.

Yukon makes a strong gear set, they have plenty of options 3.45, 3.73, 3.90, 4.11, 4.56, etc...I've been running the 3.90's for a couple of years now.
