V8 Dilemma! [Resolved!]
Hey guys,
I think my V6 ownership might be a short lived one. I am really stuck in a dilemma right now thinking if V6 was the right choice for me not thinking of some other things that V8 would have brought to the table, so I am seriously considering updating to a 2SS/1LE that I have in mind if I can get a great trade in price. I had my 2LT/RS for exactly two weeks now, I got it on May 16th and only has about 310miles on it. I haven't done any mods on it except for dye the stitching red inside. What do you guys think? Should I pull the trigger if I am getting a good trade in price? How much should I expect to get back on my 2LT/RS since its just 2weeks old. I know the value will depreciate the moment I take ownership and drive it off the lot, but would the depreciation be very high?

Depends on what you owe and how much you put down, and then how much youll get the SS for. You're going to take a big hit on trade in...it is not worth it at this point. I'd wait it out.

Those two weeks of ownership will cost you thousands on trade. I wouldn't do it just on principle.

pull the trigger...driving with regrets isn't fun!
I had a v6 mustang manual...always bothered me that it was a v6 so I bought a corvette with an automatic...always bothered me that the vette was an automatic so I finally got a 1le 2ss...I'm happier than ever. Don't drive with regret! |

Sounds like your mind is already made up and that only thing holding you back is the financial hit you will take. Could I be right? Either way both cars are great rides and will treat you right but I would rather have a v8. Unfortunately they are out of my price range so when I buy one it will be a v6 but that's ok I'll still have my 99 z/28 to satisfy my speed needs.

I would be more then happy to keep my V6 (with or without major mods: I absolutely LOVE IT!!!), but lets say if I end up supercharging it and adding other mods that would/might put my V6 a tad bit above the 2SS/1LE in straight line (I don't even know if that is possible), it would still end up costing me more than the 2SS/1LE in the mods and in the process of doing so I give up on the warranty. So in all reality I would not be doing these mods till the warranty expires or not do them at all, and just wait out till I can afford to keep this car with me and get in a C7 or 6th Gen.

ITZ COOL

I traded in my V6 after about 5 or 6 months, about $7500 lost on trade in, but I bought a 2SS that was also a trade in that lost about $8000, so I looked at it as if I came out like I had just bought the 2SS in the first place. Now if I had gone new on the trade in, then I really would have been bending over and begging for it.

Think the best person to answer your specific question is Gretchen. He has a v6 that would put a lot of v8s to shame. But in my opinion I would go with the v8. If your wanting to get to v8 performance with your v6 you'll be voiding your warranty no question. But if you go with a v8 there are plenty of mods that won't void the warranty

Should also add that a mod needs to be proven that it was the cause of the problem to void warranty work. Before anyone goes on the offense
