Thumbs up 2012 Hot Rod Power tour

I am just getting this going but it starts in Detroit and goes to Arlington, Texas.

From what is planned so far, it appears the route will be historic 66. A must do if you have never been. From mapping just what's posted, the direct route is 66 from beginning (Chicago) to Tulsa (Stillwater). Last leg is not 66 from Stillwater to Arlington. Take it from me, I've done 66 Chicago to Santa Monica... It is AWESOME!! Lots to see. My guess is I'll try to hit Joliet, Il to St. Louis. Basically 74 to Indy, 65 to Joliet then catch the HRPT to St. Louis, get dome Ted Drew's frozen custard then head home on 64 to 71. That's a nice 1000 loop!

I will update this as more information comes out.

SO FAR:

Saturday June 2, 2012 - Detroit, Michigan
Sunday June 3, 2012 - Muskegon, Michigan
Monday June 4, 2012 - Champaign, Illinois
Tuesday June 5, 2012 - venue is yet to be announced
Wednesday June 6, 2012 - Miami, Oklahoma
Thursday June 7, 2012 - Stillwater, Oklahoma
Friday June 8, 2012 - Arlington, Texas
Saturday June 9, 2012 - Long Haul Photo and awards

This is on my short list of things to do in 2012. I'm planning to do the whole thing. I've got family in SE Texas and Kansas City so we will probably do the tour then hit some family spots on the way home.

Stay tuned... Like I said, being that close, I am sure I will be up for a few days. Would a 4 month old be too young to tag along?

Gotta break him/her in right!

Never too young! Kelly was pregnant with our second when we rode in the back of a monster truck - right over the engine.

I figure all I would need is some little baby ear plugs! For the kid, not for me!

4 months is the perfect age. All they do is eat, sleep , and one other thing that slips my mind-oh yeah now I remember (man that smells rough).

I went the whole way last year only because it ended in my hometown. I did Indy through Michigan this year since it was close, but it just wasn't the same. I had a blast both times. If you decide to do any of it, the first day is by far the best. Detroit to Texas may be worth doing for me but I want to get my 68 going so the whole fam can go.

Just keep the cut outs closed. Or it might be just about the right time for a break from the little one.

Nice! I'm glad this is getting noticed! I'd love to get a nice group of 5th gens to roll together!

Keep checking and if anyone sees any info before I do, let me know and I will update post 1.

I'll keep track of everything there.
