Vortech Repair Help

The air filter slipped off ,and the clamp rubbed on the impeller blades on my YSI . From what I can tell it has no side play , it still spins ,and sounds normal. Who has had a similar issue, and how did you go about getting it resolved?

I know I can send to vortech for repair, but from what I read they don't give you a price until the unit has been inspected . Has anyone used anyone else for similar repairs with good success?

Thanks in advance.

This has actually happend to me twice. Once on my old trans am with a vortech s trim and on my current car the restrictor plate broke. Sent the s trim to a company called 928 motorsports for an upgraded impeller (tried doing it myself but it is a pain to get the impellers off have to heat them up and i didnt want to damage anything) amd sent my paxton back to ecs and they sent me a new blower.

Thank for the reply , How was your experience with the quality of the repair with 928 Motorsports? and estimated cost?

Just send it to vortech. I wouldn't trust anyone else. My rebuild/case/etc was ~$650. They are the only one that knows all the specs/torques/shims/etc. The prices are fair.

Much rather have the OEM do it. They don't quote until they get it because they don't know what is wrong or what needs to be replaced. A rebuild with all new bearings/seals was $500, then whatever other parts need to be replaced. In your case, at least a compressor wheel.

I spoke to Vortech , They made mention to send it to them for around 900$ for a full rebuild .. I think this is going to be the best option .

At a push, I'd clean up the blades with some wet/dry sandpaper so there are no sharp bits and use away at it.

assuming it didnt actually eat the clip.
