rally racing stripes installation

I'm looking to add gloss black rally racing stripes to my Orange 2SS similar to the pace car....my question is, has anyone done this themselves? I've looked at the youtube videos and it seems pretty easy as long as you take your time. Any tips or things to watch out for? I probably should've bought 2 kits in case I screw up on the first one!

the more primer solution you spray the easier it will be. spray it on both surfaces: the vinyl and the car. if you let it get too dry and it folds on itself you will have a crease in the vinyl that will be hard to get out. even if you think you've sprayed enough, spray some more! you can always sit there for an extra 2 minutes with the heat gun to dry that extra water rather than having botched the whole job. i've done my own stripes. it can be very easy if you make it, or vice versa.

looking at the cost just for the stripes scared me off doing it myself......and im glad it did........i called the local graphics shop and was quoted 300.00 for the job..sounded good.......i left it with them and they called me that afternoon and said to come pic it up.........he couldnt do it.....he showed me right before he peeled it off the last time how the fingers he called them...would crawl up and down the hood as he tryed to squeegy them out......i too watched it on youtube and it looks simple.....thats how its suppose to look watching someone that does it all the time.......i took mine to the paint and body shop and for 500.00 had the painted on....and were the factory stripes stop on the trunk lid..i had mine wrap around the spoiler.a custom look.........and am happy with the way it turned out.my SS is black and i had the stripes match the silver rims.......i did add gill stripes myself.they also turned out great...good luck

Yeap.....can remember my somewhat confused wife, asking me if is was really sanding a brand new car, just so I could install the stripes. You should have seen the look on her face whenever she realized........Actually I was preparing it so that I could paint them on .....
