Radio no reception, suggestions please!!
Just wondering if anyone out there is having the same problem as me. I have no Am or FM radio reception, only static. The dealer said it was a bad antenna cable and 8 weeks later when it arrived it was of course the wrong one. You see the tech was right the cable is bad but didnt know there are three connector points and only ordered the cable from the radio to the left kick. Wrong, the connection under the headliner at the antenna amplifier is where it is bad at. You see while waiting on the part i checked it out myself and found this to be the bad connection. While I had the car apart I realized the antenna cable is inside the left floor wire, WOW!! There is no way the dealer is taking out the floor wire, They break and tear up too much for me to let them do that. I would much rather change it out myself as I work in an auto factory and do this repair 2 to 3 times a week. The dealer cant seem to understand that they need to order the entire left hand floor wire for this repair because cutting the old cable out is a bad repair. I recently found a service bulletin on poor AM reception #PIO168, just wondering if anyone feels this would also repair the FM signal since they both use the same wire? Its a small sleeve that inserts into the connector to make it tighter when connected. This part which I need three of is $60.30 and its much smaller than the head of an eraser!

Ok, got the sleeves and installed them this weekend and it did not fix the reception problem. When moving the wire back and forth at the antenna amplifier the signal comes in and out. So for now I can only hope the new wire comes in soon.

Ok, new wire came in last week, installed this past Saturday morning. It works!! Radio reception is fine now and all is well. Had to remove lh cowl , lh scuff, lh 1/4 panel garnish, lh upper b pillar garnish, lh c pillar garnish, rear seat back, rear seat bottom, and headliner at rear. All went smoothly and if anyone needs suggestions or help on how to remove any of these parts let me know. Hopefully I can help.
