replacement tires for the 20 inch wheels alot more than for the 19 inch too . i check with tires plus, firestones are $1204 for 4 tires, as opposed to $846 for 4 tires for 19 inch wheels. so about a 358 difference. plus, summer only, cant rotate so shorter life span. i love the look of the 20 inch wheel, but dont think the tires are as practical for all around driving.

18s will NOT clear the rollerskates, if GM is still using those on the '14s. Minimum size has to be 19" if the calipers have the rollerskate dampers.

With Chicago winters I would get real winter tires for either Camaro. There are lots of good winter tire choices on Tirerack and the rep here who monitors the Tire forum can help you. Plus you can go on Tirerack and look at tire reviews, very helpful. I had a 335i with Sport and summer run flats. I bought set of Michelin winters which handled winter driving and they still felt good on the car in the dry. As was mentioned before, you step down in tire width for effective winter driving. Do not try to run SS tires in the winter, you will be stranded for sure.

So the take away here is do not let tires decide which Camaro to buy. Both have advantages. The SS route will get more expensive unless you compare a base 1SS with a 2LT. It is nice to have all the bells and whistles, but really a 1SS is very well equipped. But no heated seats. Drive both and buy the car that fits your wants, needs, and budget. All the SS owners here will tell you it is the only choice.

But the V6 Camaro is a great car and although it is "slower", it is still fast enough to be fun to drive and is faster than 98% or more of all the cars on the road. If you buy a 2013 make sure to get a really good price. Walk away from a deal to see if it gets better.

No. Just find some that will fit the stock wheels. A lot of people use a winter wheel and tire combo because they're easy to switch out and it keeps their stock wheels in good shape.

Zobi, I live in Michigan and I drive my Camaro year round. It is a 2LT/RS and the summer tires that came with it are absolutely worthless in the snow. I bought a set of the 18 inch base steel wheels and a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks for them. It handles very well in the snow with this set up. I would recommend a second set of wheels for 2 reasons. First, you can save a lot of wear and tear remounting tires on the same rims twice a year. If you have a second set of wheels you can just change out the wheels yourself. Second, the uplevel Camaro wheels are very wide in the back. Wide tires will kill traction in the snow, so the base steel wheels are the way to go at least for the V6. As someone mentioned, the base steel wheels may not fit the SS brakes.
