Dealership messed up the replacement stripes, agian...pics

Tell me, would you have picked it up? I left it, told them I did not like the traverse they gave me to drive. They took an new LTZ Tahoe off the lot and gave me the keys. The windshield side of the hood, the stripes line up????? Maybe the order stripe was shorter than the factory applied stripe. Told them to order 2 stripes and replace both sides.

no i wouldn't have picked it up like that. I would have suggested they pay to have a good paint show paint some stripes on for you after this trouble. They should have never even told you to come pick it up looking like that!

Tell me. this is the 3rd set of stripes, first applied by factory, 2nd by an outside person, 3rd by an outside person, now they say they will get someone else to put the next set on. I measured the pics, the left is even about 1/4 closer to the center of the hood, along with being lower.

I would def push for it to either be done by a GM professional or have GM pay to paint them. No way it should be off like that.

That's bullshit to blame it on the stripe manufacturer. It is purely the talent of lack of on the installer.

I've installed several sets. To be off that much, they just flat out weren't paying attention to the details. You have to take your time, measure out 1/4" gap to the front of the hood and a consistent 1/8" across the back of the hood.

The stripes can stretch a bit so you start at the back of the hood and get that 1/8" gap perfect and start squeeging down. Then you keep pulling the front tight and make sure it is going end up with the 1/4" front gap.

Before wetting the hood, you lay it down dry and make some grease pencil reference marks with it in the perfect position. Then as squeeging, just make sure all those marks line up... all the tips are right in the directions that come with the stripes. Plus the clear protective layer on top that you squeegy over acts as a template, lines you up perfectly with the center and back of hood.

When you take it back, ask - this time someone that knows what they are doing please.

This is what they should look like. I did my '10 IOM myself in my garage, second vinyl install ever and I nailed it perfectly. For a pro to screw it up, your dealing with an imbecile.

The gap to the front hood edge should be the same as the gap between the small stripe and main stripe - 1/4" . Equal distant to the center line also. Center gap winds up being around 2 7/8''.

Don't know where in Texas you are, but if you are anywhere near Ft Worth, I would take it to David at Big Worm Graphix. Get it done right the 1st time.
