I see this all the time all you can do is clean it out and inspect all your wiring. I tell my customers to place a little d-con poison in the engine compartment for a couple days.

That's nuts but they will wreck havoc on anything they can. Lucky that they didnt eat wires and such

I had mice in the daily driver that was kept outdoors. I even had mice come out from under the hood and run along the wipers when I way at 60 m.p.h. on the highway!

My Camaro stays in the garage, and in the Winter I NEVER start it. Don't know why you think that's a good idea. It just causes moisture to collect in the exhaust and in the crankcase. Hook up the battery tender and forget about it!

There's some good advice in this thread: no food in the garage, and bait thoroughly with poison. Also, get professional help finding and eradicating mouse nests. I probably had a whole village of mice in my house until the exterminators did their work.

With an Import, having additional mice under the hood actually makes them faster.

Purchase so mice baits and spread them around the location where you store the vehicle and your problem should be solved in a few days the mice will eat the bait, causing the mice to bleed out and seek water and they will leave the area and die, problem solved

I've heard that the Kia Soul has a bigger problem with hamsters.

Thank you for your service!!

You better crack the engine open to make sure there is none in there, maybe drop in a cam or something while you are poking around.

Ya and they are non-toxic. I have one large sandwich bag taped behind each strut tower.
A few razor blade slices on each and 5-6 dryer sheets inside. works for me.
You can also throw a couple in the glove box- Smells good.

Been down this road....

First thing... don't keep pet food in the garage unless you have a metal can with a lid that is very tight.

Don't "free feed" dogs. Feed them twice a day... morning and evening.

Dog gets 10 minutes to eat. They don't eat, pick the food up.
The dog will learn... eat when placed down or go hungry until next feeding period.

In Arizona the food chain goes something like this...

Leftover dog food = Mice
Mice = Rattlesnakes
Rattlesnakes = someone gets hurt!

We also have the pleasure of Pack Rats.... those critters make mice issues look cute!
