z28
There is no way the car runs only 12.3 - 12.6, that would be the driver... I would love to race a stock zl1 Camaro any time. I have other cars that will run low 12's and the Camaro z28 feels much stronger.

Agreed, Stock for stock Z28 feels significantly quicker. I owned both cars, ZL1 is a magnificent car, an not taking anything away but the Z28 feels like a monster even though it is significantly less power.

Considering the Z/28 has a similar power to weight ratio as a C7 stingray and the gearing on the two cars is very close, I think people are spot on with their mid 12 sec estimates. Multiple magazines have seen similar results.

Going back to the 2002 corvette Z06's my bone stock with 405 hp ran 12.20 at 118 mph and my 2006 corvette Z06 ran 11:20 bone stock and both on stock tires. So if you figure the Camaro is 400 lbs heavier but is geared way better then the Z06 it should dip into the mid 11's stock. Again its all in the driver! A lot of people by fast cars but cant even drive them. If the car can't run into the 11's GM just sucks, because you pay so much for a fast car to be fast in all aspects!

remember the legend Ranger on Corvetteforum had his bone stock 2006 C6 Z06 in the 10s on stock tires as well as Jamie Furman. With drag radials they were getting 10.7-10.8 at MIR. I know the Camaro Z/28 is a few hundred pounds heavier than a C6Z, but it definitely will run 11s. www.rangeracceleration.com

The z/28 may feel stronger (different power curve, different rev limit, less sound insulation, etc.), but I think a manual transmission ZL1 is still going to be about 0.3 seconds quicker and trap 3, maybe 4 mph higher. 12.3/116 vs 12.0/120.
A truly alien stick-shift driver might just barely be able to get a stock Z/28 into the 11's (11.9x/119.5) . . . and I think he'd see 11.6's/123 in that stock 6MT ZL1. Norm |

sadly the butt test doesn't show anything. Theres a reason not one person on this forum has posted a quarter mile slip. Its a low to mid 12 second car. Period.
