Hey there...new member.

Hey there!

Just sold my '04 CTS-V yesterday and had the local dealer do a dealer trade for a new 2010 Victory Red Camaro 1SS with the RS package. Before my CTS-V I had an '03 Z06. New SS should be here Monday to take delivery.

Got a good price...got the military rate plus the USAA discount so couldn't really ask for a better deal.

Was going to jump ship to BMW but decided to stay Chevy/GM yesterday.

Anyhow, figured I'd sign up here as well as LS1tech. Thinking about getting springs for the car (it sits just a tad high for my taste) and was going to go with the Eibach pro kit, but not sure really if it is worth it or not.

Maybe have my wife get them for me for my birthday at the end of the month.

Anyhow, hi!

PS - one question about the 6spd SS: Does it FORCE you to shift to 4th gear or is it just optional? My Z06 it was optional, my CTS-V forced you to shift into 4th. If it's like my CTS-V I need to get a skip shift eliminator for it.

Buying one on eBay right now.

Couple other questions if you don't mind me asking...did you notice a big difference with your CAI? Have you installed your springs yet?

id give you mine for free if shipping didn't cost more than eliminator itself!
Yes there is a noticeable difference with the CAI (sound and performance).

Must mods are skipshift... cai... exhaust... and of course the drop i haven't installed mine yet... waiting on BMR's rear control arm....

If you just wanted to drop the car, do you need anything else like a control arm? Exhaust is like 1200 bucks for a catback for this car (from a brief glance on ebay). A little absurd.

I already ordered the skipshift...was thinking maybe either a CAI or springs from my wife for my 29th bday...but the Eibachs are only like an inch. I saw over here the H&R springs:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49531

So I might lean in that direction so my wife isn't buying me a 350 dollar CAI. How hard are the springs to install on the car? I've done it to about three other cars but nothing recent...last I checked it was just get a spring compressor and be prepared to spend a good portion of the day...

Also, does the RS package make the wheels a little darker? I haven't seen my new car yet and it's red SS with the RS package, and on the Chevy site the wheels get darker when you add the RS so was hoping mine would as well...

1- with the H&R springs it is recommended to avoid camber caster and alignment issues
2- There are cheaper ... search on forum...
3- Will let you know when i get them on.. but many have done it with no issues at all
4- yes but not dark enough...

1. I've never had to do anything after lowering any of my cars....usually just an alignment. :( Got a writeup or suggestion about this? I looked at that thread I linked earlier and didn't see the guy recommending it.
2. Maybe my searching skills are waning in my older age, but I can't find anything cheaper than a little over a grand. For a catback...not even remotely worth it to me. For a full exhaust, maybe.
3. Cool thanks
4. Was thinking of having them powder coated or something black.

He may have been on those forums. You'll have to ask him when he shows up.

He always welcomes everyone with this creative speech. I like it. Here's one of them..

balthazar, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!
