** Cutout Location ** QTEC66

My 2010 SS has an aftermarket exhaust, headers and its also cat less.... Not to mention that the car is lowered, where do I install the QTP dual cutouts... My exhaust hangs lower than the factory does..... I went to a shop this morning and he told me that I should install them in the back like right before the muffler... Then he said maybe in the front right after the header... Idk I'm lost I just need some help...

Here is where mine are mounted - in the bend just past the HF cats. I do have to be careful with ground clearance because I'm 1.25 inches lowered and I only have about 3.5 inches at the cats and cutouts. I just go one wheel at a time over anything big and I'm good.

Is this the location kinda right under the driver and passenger door in that first bend?

If you are lowered, this is the best place to locate them in my opinion.
Ground clearance is a non-issue.

Yes and here is a taste of what that sounds like - jump to the 1:50 mark if you wish - make sure to have the speakers cranked - ear buds are the best. I have to say though that 67Motorcat's rear mounts look great and are intriguing.

It is alot more work to put them in the rear, but worth it IMO.

SSDAN your car sound great , I have the same cutouts but forward in the Y-pipe. I saw you video and it sounds like you have a S/C, I am running a new 416 stroker with a C/C .650 lift and a whipple 12 lb. this makes it a little hard to drive on the street but who cares !
I am also in SC. not far from Anderson if you up this way give me shout.

A S/C? I wish! - just a thumping cam.
Your set-up sounds sweet!!
Same to ya if you come down my way to the Columbia area. Would love to see and hear your ride.

OP - sorry for the thread jack and thanks for the compliment. Good luck with yours - wherever you put those cutouts I'm sure you are going to love them.

Does location effect sound? Alot? From mounting close as can to headers or all way in rear. Sure in rear is easiest for ground clearance but do you sacrafice sound? I'm asking because getting mine installed tomorrow. I have the wireless low profile qtp's.

JRE installed mine and they thought the rear mounted cutouts had a deeper sound.

I doubt the sound would be a whole lot different unless the stock resonators are being utilized for a rear mount set-up.

I chose to run then at the rear(you see the pics above post #4))though the stock resonators and believe it or not there is very little if any drone running fully open.At one time I had SLP Loudmouths on my car and had to remove them because it was so bad. This is not even close.

Another thing to consider and why I say there would be very little sound difference,is because if mounted at the bend rite after the cats,(post #2 pic)the exhaust has to exit at a 90* angle and much more exhaust makes its way though the tails pipes especially at high RPM.

With the rear mount location, the exhaust flows into a "Y"(post #4 pic) and will flow more directly with the least amount of resistance.I can barely feel any exhaust gases coming out of tail pipe tips when fully open.

I think that it sounds really nice with a deep rumble with out being raspy, and the sound exiting at the rear often make people wonder what is going on back there...

As said,it is definitely a lot more work mounting them back there, but as low as my Car is,I had no other option and am very happy with the results.
