Word has been going around dealerships that the Challengers will be stopped in production o make way for the 'Cuda under Chrysler in 2012 in preparation for the release of the Z28. So they are pushing the Challenger name as a collectible especially the SRT8 Hemi in Plum Crazy, that's what dealer told us when my girlfriend made an order for hers. I'm sure it's all rumors and all but it would make sense though. I agree that if I find't purchase my 2SS I would'be got myself a Challenger, they're mighty sexy.

Hope it keeps up. This new 5.0 Mustang will probably be a good seller.
Nothing to do with current body styles, but I see Mustangs 5 to 1 versus Camaros on the road. They are like a Honda, everyone has one. |

So Camaro outsold mustang by about 21,000 from may 2009- april 2010.
and in 13 months 28,205 challengers sold. actually that's more than i figured. |

As they say (whoever "they" are), competition improves the breed. Incremental changes will over time have a positive effect on our beloved Camaro.
It really is nice to see this happening. Each manufacturer bumps each other along this path to improvement. Quite frankly, I would love to be able to afford one of each in my Garage. But, when cold hard reality sets in, I am tickled to death with my choice. I love my Camaro, it is a wonderful automobile.

My official delivery date was 4/27 (still in transit)... so I did my part!
As for the challenger numbers, Chrysler has purposefully kept production numbers low to keep demand up. They probably got a spike (like the camaro and mustang) from the tax returns. Their numbers would be higher with a higher production availability, Challenger forums are still seething over this (both happy and unhappy). Happy because its causing it to be a rare care like the 60's-70's, unhappy because dealers are STILL price adjustment gouging them. Unlike the east coast, dealers in the west still aren't getting enough for the demand (same with camaros and mustangs).
