I do love those HRE wheels they use on the ZL1!

those numbers don't add up, that car should be in the mid 10s on the 1/4. Not what I expected to see. Now it's up to SLP to come back and push that thing to it's limit.

And to all the guy's that say the vert's are not for speed , your just the kind of guy's I like to see in my mirror . Remember the weight difference isn't much and the car handles the same as the hard top.

A bump from 91 octane to 93 or 94 isn't gonna increase power from 617rwhp to 750rwhp. No if we are talking C16 then I could see the possibilities. I'm from Michigan and i'm pretty sure SLP is based in New Jersey.

I have a feeling that is a conservative tune on that ls7.

Conservative for sure. For the price difference I'll stick with my ZL585. Not much difference in numbers.

I'm sorry number one that car is nowhere as nice as the "Real" GM ZL1 coming out. The price is outrageous when I can wait and get the real deal. I can also up grade and MOD that ZL1 that I am buying and it will have same or more horse power!!! Bad move to bring out a car that GM has coming out from "GM". It looks like any other stock SS Camaro with an $800.00 bumper and logos stuck on it with the basic stock interior other than embroidery and liitle change up on the stock center of the seat. And a create motor LS7 with whipple supercharger.. LOL not even an LSA motor . No...maybe I sould upgrade my own SS I already own and can do it for cheaper and slap some ZL1 logos on it. Un no wait I'll buy a "real" one when it comes out from GM!

SLP's ZL1 has been "out" for quite some time now.............. and modded more then just a SC and some badging.

As mentioned, I wish you could buy that rear diffuser separately.

12.2 @117 mph? Those are the kind of times I'm expecting out of my convertible after I throw the cam sitting on my shelf in the car. I'm also expecting to dyno about 150 rwhp less.

LOL, it wouldn't even be close to being in the top 32 on the quickest 1/4 mile power adder list, there are also 16 cars faster than it on the non power adder list. It would hold the #9 spot on the bolt ons only list, LOL

To all my convertible brethren, don't worry I WILL get respectable times for my mods out of my convertible, just waiting for this 100+ Texas heat to subside.

No one said 750 at the wheels. the claimed 750 is at the crank and the 617 is at the wheels.

Obviously I'm aware of that but if you listen to the video again the guy tries to make it seem like it would get to 750rwhp with higher octane.

No he doesn't. "It did over 615 horsepower to the wheels and maybe it's not quite 750 horsepower to the flywheel, but remember we're running 91 octane. On 93 or 94 octane like you get in the rest of the world, it's making 750 horsepower."
He even emphasized "rear wheel horsepower" when he said they made over 615. Obviously he didn't say flywheel or rear wheel at the very end when he said "it's making 750 horsepower" but I guess that is his fault for expecting people to use common sense and not think a couple of octane points will get you 135 rwhp.

I get that already. I'm trying to clarify it for the newbs that may not know the difference between rwhp and flywheel

I appreciate most of what they have done with this car, and because it is a little heavier due to the convertible top I expected a less than stellar showing in the 1/4 mile while on an unprepared track with street tires.

That being said the MPH to me is not up to snuff for the power. At 117mph, lightly modded 03 Cobras would be giving this thing a hard time.

My hats off to SLP for putting together a nice looking car with a cool engine package. After GMMG built the last 69 ZL-1s in 2002 I feel like everything since has been played out. Couple that with the fact that GM will now have a regular production of ZL-1s that are much less expensive and I think poor SLP may need to put their own monicker on the car instead of using the ZL-1 name plate.
The simple fact is that a ZL-1 should not be a plush street cruising convertible. It should be a stripped down bare bones lightweight drag car that looks like a base model or has very understated enhancements that shed pounds. In my humble estimation they could have started with a base v6 or even SS, installed the necessaries to make it NHRA legal, stuck with the ALL aluminum LS7 with some better heads, cam, Headers and intake. And for the exterior a set of understated custom width black or body colored steel wheels with an option for a matching set with drag tires already mounted so you could swap tires out without drawing much attention.

All that being said not even GM stuck to this formula which I imagine is the collective desire of the Camaro community.

This is just one mans humble opinion.
