Broken axles....

Can anyone who broke their stock axles chime in on how much RWHP you were putting down? With slicks/DR's? Just curious, cuz I'm being told they cant handle too much. Thanks

Wheel hop can and will break most anything....and the manual cars are harder on them than an auto.

I have only broken 1 axle. I had 625 rwhp and over 65,000 miles with my M6 with Nitto NT05R DR's when mine broke... I now have the DSS 1400 hp axles and more power.

Wheel hop is your worst enemy. Mine broke on the 1-2 shift on an 1/8 mile dragstrip. It is all on how your launch the car.. Sidestepping the clutch is worse than slowly releasing the clutch.. It just takes some seat time.

Good Luck !!

I have an early car that makes about 490rwhp. I broke the right axle recently. I went to grab second shortly after a big burnout on nitro nt05's and boom.

It's really hit or miss on breaking the stock axles. Some guys have gone pretty fast on them and some have broken them with stock power.

We have a couple different versions of axles that will fit your power needs and we have some great Christmas/New Years pricing.

Thanks
Chris

As said wheel hop does them in good. Most of the broken one's we've pulled are on lowered cars when the angle's are off.A little wheel hop and boom.

Great thread... any one else have input on when/how yours broke?

My fear of the axles failing I feel is based largely in speculation on the forum, so it's nice to read about observed failures.

Broke mine and car is bone stock including wheels and tires. I did have bad wheel hop though. The posi was also weak and was in need of upgrading and could have been contributing to the failure. I have since fixed the posi with Jennetty's kit, installed DS shop 1500HP axles, and upgraded the rear suspension arms to tubular chomoly with stiffer bushings.
