So I have a question. I just joined the SCCA Cicago Region, and plan to run the Autox and track days.

Are you required to have a # on the side of your car?

hcsi99, I like your 06FS. Is that for tracking? Looks? Or both?

What are you guys running as far as air pressure goes? I know track temp will play a role, but wondering if anyone has found a good and consistent starting pressure.

Those are magnetic numbers for autocrossing. I was going for the old school look. You are required to have a number and your class displayed for autocrossing. I picked mine up from soloperformance.com.

The SCCA and local autocross forums seem to think the M3 and Mustangs will dominate the FS class. They don't give the 1LE any credit due to the weight. I hope the 1LE surprises a few people.

With everyone going to non R tires this year it's hard to predict what the hot car for FS will be. As long as I beat a few Mustangs I'll be happy. With only 500 miles on my car and easy driving I have no idea if these cars will be competitive or not. How are the Goodyears for autocross?

The GY's get good after they heat up. Until then they are skittish. If you get serious about tracking they wont be around for more than 10K miles I have only one short track day on them and they are done. To be honest they were pretty much done from being street driven at around 7K miles. I have almost 9K and they are getting replace in the next week or so.

Some great information on this thread. I was using the search to try and see if there was anything regarding ZL1 and Autocross and came across this info on the 1LE. After a bit of searching on the rules I cam across this regarding the ZL1.

Looking forward to getting out and doing some racing this year.

1LE Autocross

I just completed my second autocross in my 14 1LE this past weekend. I've been autocrossing for over 7 years, and autocrossed a LOT of different cars. First time out I didn't set the world on fire, finished 3rd out of 12 or so. A M5 won and a Shelby gt got second. I had only had the car a little over a week, so still learning it. The car is big, but doesn't feel big the way it grips!!! This past weekend I guess I was going to fast and got noticed by some guys in other classes and they mentioned to the club I was in the wrong class. Now the club I run with kind of follows SCCA classing, but not really. In the end I was moved up a class, then put back into FS after pleading my case...so I won my second event

Here's some video with data of my best run...which still had mistakes in it. The data showed I pulled 1.06g's and hit a top speed of 70mph. not bad for such a tight course.

I don't know how the hell you drive with 58 keys on your keyring.
Just a tip- entry is just as important as exit and you were driving really tight(point and shoot). Maintain smooth archs and nail down your entry with proper speed maintenance.

So, after my first SCCA meeting last night, I know F Street is the class. And I know will have to leave the cold air intake on the work bench or get bumped to STU. Think as this is the first year of autox and a new car, we'll stay in F Street and have a hell of a time. I do know that the alignment will be changed upon delivery to either the Pedders or Pfadt specs and we'll give it a go. Cannot wait for this winter to friggin end.
