I never have understood why people drink and drive. I mean I understand the fact that this generation is among the stupidest but I seriously boggles my mind. I think the problem here is the same with people the street race. They don't have the mentality to differentiate right and wrong. Also they think that their cars are these mystical inventions that can do anything, protected them from death, etc.

It's not just with the current generation. As long as there has been cars people have been drink and racing them. I think the current generation is the most informed due to ad's like this.

The majority of drunk drivers were with their friends or family before getting behind the wheel. And since there are a lot of parties going on during the holiday season, keep an eye on on the people you're with. If they're too drunk to drive DON'T LET THEM DRIVE! Spot them $20 for a cab if you have to, it could be the best $20 you ever spend.

This is most important to watch during this time of year. I stay off the roads during the holidays. I live out in the country and prefer to stay there.

Be safe everyone.

I don't belive the problem with people and vehicles is drinking and driving; The problem is drinking and stupidity.
I agree with earlier poster, this generation is the stupidest ever and therefore they pass stuipdity laws everyday to protect people from other peoples stupidity. And, in the process the smart responsible people suffer because of it.
If people had some self control, and responsible behaviour having a few rounds, then droving normally everything would be fine, so passing laws against drinking and driving has nothing to do with the issue especially when .08 is like having one beer. Most people are not physically hindered after one beer. But, when you have immature, young morons driving mommy and daddys new 350hp. vehicle after a chug-a-lug contest, and some kush thats' the problem.
So, zero tolerance for youths under the age of 25, and stiffer sentences for drunken driving morons is a good thing, but treating everyone the same (like a crimminal) is not the answer.
I personally, know people who's lives have been destroyed because the book was thrown at them after they had a beer while stopping off at a buddys place after work for a hour, and I've known morons who regularly drive around town with a 12 case, and or have numerous drinks while doing bar hop rounds every evening and get slapped on the wrist when the get caught.
The drinking and driving law needs to be expanded to have stiff penalites for the stupid, and lighter penalties for those that aren't the problem.
