Sunroof ?

There is a cutaway picture of the new Camaro that appears in several threads. On that image there is what appears to be a structural piece that runs through the center of the roof from front to back.(If I could figure out how to attach that image I would. Sorry.)

My question is what happens to that structural piece when you get a Sunroof and does this change affect the structural rigidity of the car?

A lot of other cars have added support around the sun roof to accommodate for the hole in the roof. I personally think cars shouldn't have holes in the roof, but some people like it. There may be less headroom with the sunroof too.

Supposedly there's just a tiny bit less headroom. However, Conan O' Brian fit in the car quite nicely and he's very tall. So I wouldn't worry about headroom too much with the sunroof added.

I am not a big fan of the way the sunroof looks on the Camaro........i do however have always been a fan of t-tops.....you think they will ever bring them back with this new generation ??

im not getting a sunroof, i ordered my G5 with a sunroof and i will be honest i hate it, it leaks and rattles. Ive taken to 3 different dealers several times and none of them can seem to fix it. i dont want my camaro to be the same way so im opting to not get a sunroof

I seem to recall something about a t-top not being structural feasible on the 5th gen. Maybe they'll design it into the 6th gen.

The heck with sunroof or t-tops. Let's see a Corvette style one piece targa top on the 5th Gen.

Went to show in philly and sat in car with and without sunroof. I am 6ft tall and there is more headroom without sunroof. Already bad sight lines with this car dont need added hassel of head room issues.

Where in the car are you going to store it when it's not in place? I guess if you're really a risk taker you could remove it and leave it in the garage.

T-tops for my 89 IROC stored in a leather pouch strapped in the trunk still leaving room for a little storage.

I did the same thing since I'd ordered a sunroof. I sat in the red w/sunroof and blue w/o the sunroof.

I'm also 6' tall. I'd say there is about an extra inch of headroom without the sunroof.

But I adjusted the seat until I was comfortable regardless of the lesser headroom. (Lowered it all the way and reclined the seat a little. Which didn't bother me because I always have the seat reclined a little anyway.)

Honestly, to me, it felt a lot more like my 4th Gen than I expected. And I loved the way the 4th Gen seating position was.

Similar to the tops on my '98, but the third and fourth gen had hatches, not trunk lids, and the 2 piece tops were small. My point is, I don't think you'll fit a one piece Targa style top into the trunk of a 5th gen.

Im getting worried, You guys are saying you are 6 ft tall and you are having to put the seat down all the way and recline it. Well im 6'8" and wanting a Camaro and hoping i can get one despite my tallness. Although i have a Grand Prix with a sunroof that i just barely fit in, so hopefully the Camaro with out a sunroof will have a little more room.
