This cars windshield sucks!
Serious. in 12,000 km I've fixed 4 rock chips and had one actually crack instantly. Merc you saw the little crack, well I've been busy... and lazy... and never got around to it, and this morning... SNAP, the crack went across the entire front of the windshield. Literally all the way. I did a .
I've never had a car that has had such a tempermental window, and it's not like I drive on gravel roads or anything... between the black paint rock chips and window rock chips... it's like driving a damn egg! Moral of the story make sure you have good deductible for your windshield cause $10 says you'll need it. Mine's only $100. Windshield gets replaced tomorrow

I understand auto glass is auto glass... I was thinking more the fact that this windshield is apparently an extremely structural part of the cars design compared to other cars. Hell my work truck got 75,000km driving on logging roads last year having semis chucking rocks at it and it only got 1 rock chip... and I'd have about 10 hit the windshield an hour..

Before the Camaro i had an FJ Cruiser, Men, those windshields take a beating, compared to that the camaro windshield is 100 times better.
i had to lower my comprehensive deductible to $50 just cause i knew they would break easy and pit like crazy. |

Not the first time I read about this here, idunno if the glass is extra sensitive due to shape, antennae in it or what!
Hasn't happened to me yet *knock on wood* but I know it's just a matter of time, so thanks for the reminder to check that comprehensive! |

I agree, this windshield definitely sucks. 3 chips, 1 crack in just over a year. I have never had this happen to any of my other vehicles. 1 chip in 15 years before the camaro. WTF?!

My windshield has been fine with no chips for the last 25000 kms. I do however have a tiny chip in my passanger window down near the bottom edge where the mirror should have blocked anything. Still can figure out how that one happened.
