How much would you offer?
For the last 15 years I have been watching this 1970ish Camaro sit in this front yard. It has never moved. I assumed one day I would notice work on it, yet this has never happened.
Yesterday I stopped by to get a closer look, the interior is trashed. The body had some dents with rust at the front portion of the rear quarters, but the body has surprisingly held up fairly well. A lady came out and gave me the owner's phone number. I talked to the guy who was very nice and said he had hoped to restore it. He really didnt want to get rid of it but you could tell for the right price he would. I offered a rather meager $500 not knowing what I'd be getting into. He said there has been interest from others and was hoping for more. He claimed it started two years ago. What should I offer on such a thing?

I should have took some yesterday. I'll stop by and get some in the next couple days.
Don't know but should have asked. I assumed I'd be replacing it so at the time I didn't think of it, but I guess if it's original maybe it's worth something. Stay tuned... I'll get the additional info.

This 1971 or 1972 Camaro has a 307 base V-8 in it. I'll work on photos this weekend.

It basically has no value aside from how much you give it. Being that age, and as it doesn't sound like it's had any work done on it, expect to have to touch pretty much everything to get it into shape. It largely becomes a matter of how much you want to spend.
I'm sure you can find numerous driving donor cars for what you may end up paying for this one. |

Cars don't go cheap anymore it seems a year ago I could have gotten a 68 Chevelle in need of restoration for $1500 guys best price as he was originally looking for $2800. It depends on what the car is worth to you and what cars like it are going for in your area in that same condition. My bet is he probably thinks he's sitting on gold and will only sell at top dollar. I'd come back at $1000 if he says no and you are that interested in the car find out what number he is thinking so you know how close you are on a deal, if it's not close walk away if it's fairly close try to work Jim into your price range.

That car has little value really $500 is a very fair offer in the condition you describe. I am sure you could find something much better for a little more. Camaros from the 60s are much more sought after.
