Solo Mach X-LFX J-Pipe Cat-Back Exhaust: I listened to all of the exhaust samples on C5, and also a bunch on YouTube. The Solo system sounded the best to me. There are a bunch of ricers around here with fart cans, and I wanted something better than that. Everyone who has heard it loves it.

Note: All recordings made with iPod Touch Gen 5, iOS 7, on-board microphone. Edited in FCPX.


I was previously running a stock intake with an aftermarket Green Filter, a VMAX Ported Throttle Body, and a SOLO Catback Exhaust.

Updates May 2014:

CAI Intake, a VMAX PTB, and a SOLO Catback Exhaust. I really couldn't tell any sound or performance gains from adding the CAI.

CAI Intake, APEX Air Scoop, a VMAX PTB, and a SOLO Catback Exhaust. Adding the scoop woke up the CAI, and the sound increased also.

Wow! What a difference!

The sound is much better. There is now a low-level burble under the great SOLO cat-back sound at start-up and idle. The car now growls at half-way down on the throttle pedal; where it used to take nearly flooring it to get the same effect. I was hearing this with the windows shut. It must be deafening behind me. It is going to be a challenge to remain stealthy without the cops following me around now.

This is the most improvement to acceleration since I installed the VMAX PTB. A light 1/3 push on the throttle used to be comfortable; but now it is surging forward. I am literally half-way down on the pedal to get the same feeling that flooring it used to take. It reminds me of the Camaro V8's that I test drove before I got the V6; almost too much acceleration. The car was easy to hold at 60, but it kept creeping up when I was listening to the new sounds. Keeping my foot on it like I used to doesn't work the same now.

Note: The following recordings may sound similar to the previous ones, as there are some frequencies that the iPod stock microphone is unable to capture; like the burbling. I am going to buy some new sound recording equipment to correct this.
