I think it's great to bring the 81 back to life. They sure are keepers. I think dad kind of got the inspiration to restore it from looking at your 2010 SS/RS (had exactly the same car and color, just traded in for the ZL1) love this color. I also have 2 81's, take a look at my page and let me know what you think?
A friend of mine lives in your town and has a red 1980 camaro Z28 and a blue Iroc his name is Luis.
You have a beautiful car. Post some pictures of the 81 during restoration.

Love the second generation Z28's. I remember being a young teenager going for a spin in one seeing the air induction open up. Coolest thing i seen at the time. Thank you for sharing and keep us updated please.

Awesome, hope all goes well, keep us posted. My friend just bought a '79, its in fairly good shape but still needs a lot of cosmetic work.

what a beauty, i wish to have a classic like that.... only problem my mom never bought these cars , cause im a foreigner ;(, i would love to help restore it, only to be able to keep it a day or 2 of the week to drive around ^_^.

I had a bright blue 1980 when I lived in Mississauga. Did a bunch of autocrossing and track days with it. Ah the days when I was able to work on my own car with a few screw drivers, wrenches and a timing light!
