How long does it take after placing order?

I ordered my black 1LT on 12/30 and it's sitting at (1102) Order Entered via Web.

Anyone have advice on how long they had to wait before seeing some movement? I figured I'd give it a week before I start badgering my dealer.

Well the plant was at least shut down until 1/3, so I don't think it would have made any progress during that period, but I'm not certain. Mine took a few days after the order was put in. Here is mine up until 2000:

12/13/2010 - (1100) Order Placed at Dealership Order passed GM edit tables but dealers has not received allocation to place order
12/13/2010 - (1102) Order Entered via Web
12/15/2010 - (2000) Order Accepted by GM Dealer used allocation to place order into production

Your dealer needs to get your order allocated before it will move.
Call the dealership and ask if they have your order allocated.
Dont let them tell you some BS or take your money to another dealer.

I've read about allocation, but I still don't fully understand what it means when the dealer has to get it "allocated".

Allocation is the number of cars given to the dealer to order over approximately a months time. In the case of the Camaro convertible, the dealer must have allocation to move the order into GM's system. GM will not take any additional orders beyond what the dealer has been allocated. On the other hand, Camaro coupes can move into the system now without the dealer having allocation. When GM allows "sold order" processing, they are looking through all the dealers orders looking to put them into the system. The processing of Camaro coupe orders is a fairly recent change. So, if you order a convertible, you are at the mercy of the dealer, whereas if it's a coupe, GM will take the order and move it into the system.

Good luck and check into the tracking thread any time!

Thanks Becky. Should I be concerned that the coupe I ordered hasn't made it into the system, yet?

I don't think either one of you have anything to worry about at this point. The system was suspended basically over the holidays, now everything is up and running. It could only be a matter of a few days and....
you're in the system. Good luck and keep us posted.

Just depends on where it is in the system. If
it hasn't gone past 2000, the dealer can make
the change and it's no issue. Once it goes past
2000 the dealer has to request that the order
be returned and that could slow it up a little.
Best to make any changes early and leave it
alone.
