I haven't seen the new design yet, but what I found to help my 2011 top stay secured (and protect the top from having the cover rub against it causing burn/rub marks at the front bow) was to place a piece of felt over the top before attaching the tanneau, this kept it more "snug" and allow less air flow below the top. Also eliminating the friction from the tanneau against the actual top.

Another thing I found was to be sure to push the cover as far to the rear as possible and tuck as much fabric under the rear deck lid as you can. It may seem like it'll allow more air in the front, but it really does help.

Dunno his much this will apply to the 2012s, but it worked for me (sorta)

How did you put them on? I laid mine out and inserted each side then it became a huge pain in the butt to reach the bungee cords. The bungee cords weren't that easy to secure either. Maybe I need to loosen the bolts it secures to or something. I ended up securing the bungees first then bending the crap out of the plastic ends to secure. Doesn't seem to be the right way to put on, if you have a better way, I am all eyes!

Lay it out and the first step is to secure the bungee cords, then tuck the plastic pieces in and then tuck the vinyl pieces in.

Would a video help?

It would seem the new redesigned cover is the way to go. I wonder if I can return my 11 cover and get the updated 12... The so called clip posts, are they different for the new design?

Thinking about going to the dealer this weekend and asking to swap out the cover.

Dealer replaced my '11 cover with a '12. The '12 has no tabs to pull like the '11 so what's the best way to remove?

I push out the hard plastic sides so they are removed then pull the front/back tucked in areas and lastly unhook the bungees. I still don't know why GM couldn't have a hinged cover like the Corvette...PITA to deal with the current one.

Tried that but the fit was so snug I was afraid I was going to damage the car or the cover if I pushed with any more force. I ended up sticking my hand between the cover and back seat and unhooking the bungee cords first. This gave the cover enough wiggle to allow to me to pull out all the tucked in areas.

What a bad design. If you don't use the cover, the top flaps around anytime your above 35 mph. But to install and remove the cover requires you to become a contortionist.

That's a darned good question. I was just thinking the same thing when you mentioned "no tabs". Without them, I'd really be struggling to remove it.

I have put the cover on every time and my posts must be screwed in further than they should or the bungey part is way too thick for the posts. My wife and I really have to pull up hard on the bungey to hope it stays on post, otherwise it keeps on popping off post. As I drive down the road, I am a little paranoid that it popped off the post and the top will go flying. I think I am going to modify the posts for self assurance. I feel it's not a great design, but I didn't have any problems with the 2011 top, actually thought that it was great.

Installing/Removing 2012 Tonneau Cover

When installing, I've found it easiest to hook the bungee cords first, then insert the hard plastic side pieces, tuck in the front flap behind the rear seat back, then tuck in the rear last.

To remove, reverse the process, removing the bungee cords after untucking the rear and removing the side pieces.

He has pictures in this post:

I used his idea and added the washers to mine too.
